There is so much hilarious news coming out of Africa we could almost have a weekly column about it here. My personal favorite type is about black magic. This one is not going to be about that. No Mob Butchers Man Suspected of Mutating Into a Croc, Slaughtering People – Report

The victim was reportedly blamed by his killers for murdering a person after turning into a crocodile, with people from three villages mobilising in order to carry out the grisly deed. A 36-year old man from the Luapula province of Zambia ended up being lynched by an angry mob for allegedly committing a murder after turning into a crocodile, according to Zambia Reports news website.

Earlier in September, two Nigerian men were arrested by authorities after they murdered a police sergeant and plucked out his eyes in order to make themselves a magical charm which was supposed to render them invisible.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari issued a defiant rejection of rumors that he had died and secretly been replaced by a clone during remarks in Poland on Sunday.

It's a serious issue there.

Buhari made the remarks during an open question session in which aides read him questions from the Nigerian public. Nigerian social media has recently been home to a vigorous debate on whether the 75-year-old Buhari, prone to long absences from the country to receive unspecified medical care, died long ago and was replaced with “Jibril,” a clone from Sudan. Some rumors identify Jibril as a Chadian replacement for the Nigerian president. Few provide any details regarding who did the cloning and how they successfully managed to create a 75-year-old man during Buhari’s absence last year.

Buhari added a lament that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also faced scrutiny on whether he should have assumed the presidency instead of the clone when Buhari died.

I certainly hope they can get this sorted out quickly. Then they can make Nigeria great again.

Consulting traditional healers turned fatal for a local family recently after a 44-year-old man stoned his in-laws to death, police have confirmed.

Isau Komichi from Chief Mazungunye in Bikita reportedly stoned his mother in-law Sonika Mapura, 69, to death together with her son Farirepi Muchazvirega, 17, last week.

Provincial police spokesperson Chief Inspector Charity Mazula confirmed the incident.

You miss the point. South African students call for the “fall of colonizing Western science” and its replacement by “separate ways of knowledge”.

The Colonialist methods which you see as modern must be discarded.

The video looks like a college classroom in which the exchange of ideas is fluid. The young woman is obviously intelligent, but seems to have adopted a way of thinking that won't hold up for the betterment of her country, or her peers.

These exchanges are good at this age, right or wrong. As she becomes more educated she will perhaps change her mind, or be persuaded by others, or the facts themselves when presented in a way that suits her way of learning. Or maybe she'll become a cult leader!

Nevertheless it's good to see everybody considering ideas of importance, but she also seems to be rejecting much of science because she perceives it to be 'western' instead of universal. She might be rejecting 'the west', as much as anything else.

Their superstition sounds ridiculous to us here in the west but the entire continent seems to really believe all of this. It's not so much a rejection of the west, it's more like they never accepted it in the first place. Like how they can work on farms in Zimbabwe for generations but then when they drive out the owners, they have no idea how to run the farm despite having been there all those years.

These reports of vampires, penis theft, turning into crocodiles would probably be a lot funnier if these people did not form horrific lynch mobs to kill the accused on the basis off a rumor. Their belief in black magic is also really no joke when you consider how they kill people to obtain body parts to use in their rituals. I recall seeing an interview on Vice where a General Buck Naked described how he and his troops would kill a baby before each battle and drink the blood thinking it made them invulnerable to bullets.
