Mississippi Senate Election Results: Cindy Hyde-Smith vs. Mike Espy

Mississippi had a special run-off election today for a seat in the U.S. Senate.

Cindy Hyde-Smith(R) vs Mike Espy(D).

So far about 50% reporting, Hyde-Smith has a comfortable lead

57% to 43%

A Hyde-Smith win will give the Senate a 53-47 (R) Majority.

Cindy Hyde-Smith, a Republican who was appointed to the Senate this year, faces Mike Espy, a Democrat and former congressman, in a special election runoff on Tuesday after neither candidate won a majority on Election Day. The election was held to fill the seat of Senator Thad Cochran, who retired earlier this year for health reasons.

Espy conceded according to Fox. His campaign said it took so long because they were surprised by the poll results being worse than expected.

But they made inroads... and stuff...
