I am not sure that will work but a good apple cider vinager with mother doesnt hurt. I use it every day.

You have to watch it with Olive oil. A lot of it isnt really olive oil.

We have to worry about brain slugs here. Well, not really brain slugs, but it sounds much better than the real name.

you really should be washing it all. Even fruit IE berries, apples etc.

fill sink with cold water. add 1 cup white vinager. Soak for 10 minutes and rinse off. Its not just germs and bacteria but also pesticides you need to get off.

Kind of a pain but its nice to have clean food.

Well bummer.. I just bought a 3 pack a few days ago and have eaten 1 (so far so good)

But I got a question-- I think I know the answer but was wondering what ya'll think. I bought a flat of romaine last weekend for my greenhouse garden and it is doing great.. are these little guys contaminated too?

You're probably ok. Just avoid the night soil.

We grow "Romaine lettuce" here in the USA.

It's original name was "Roman lettuce", as it could be found all over the empire. It was believed to have originated from Cos the Greek island in the Mediterranean.

I saw the article while glancing at the news on-line earlier and in my Dyslexic mind it said Romanian
lettuce , not one to be a grammar Nazi i thought it might be a quaint American spelling of Romany as in Gypsy or Romanian .

I totally missed that one ps we do get our chickens from Asia flown into the Uk at night on the shelves in the morning

and staffed with prisoners to keep the cost down

Yeah, that's the ticket. Slave labor to solve our economic woes. While we are at it we can make more things against the law to increase the prison population of slaves. And the prison industrial complex would love it as well. Take their cut and all.

You ever thought of being a politician
get the buggers building the autobahn beats being locked up 23 hrs a day , seriously why not xxxk them

make it like 1920 again

It is stunning to think the USA gets some of its veg from Romania , What with them moaning about climate change and all you would thing they would be growing it indoors with hydroponics and staffed with prisoners to keep the cost down , the uk Tesco flys its chickens in from Asia !

Ya! There sure must be a lot of Romaine lettuce farms in Romania, for them to supply the world like that!

Aren't we silly humans, for flying chickens around in planes?
Maybe it's our way of helping them with evolution?

So a police helicopter is helping pigs fly

They grow leeks in Wales boyo
They make boomerangs in Scotland and export them to Australia /and the family joke is my mother brought one back for me so they do work

The joys of being a dyslexic

sigh - no process or supply vector is immune from ontamination // saftey issues

the problem with US food seems [ IMHO ] to be lack of diversity // compartmentalisation

your garden // the local farmer - is no more or less intrisically safe than any other supply vector

but - you will only poinson yourelf - your local farmer - only expose 500 people to a " threat "

the chipoloate fast food franchise farce illustrates this - they had thier entire supply of cetrtain ingredients run through one point - and when that failed - resteraunts serviing 115 million people were put at risk

Just need to expose all our food to ionizing radiation to kill any living organisms on them.

They tried that. People went nuts because their food was "radioactive."

Yeah, that's been with us for a while. I remember mom wouldn't let us make snow ice cream with the first snow because of "strontium" from the bomb tests.
