Perhaps connected, but the idea that a people group that is identified and named as "Hispanic" here in the US is primarily residing in Central America. Why are there borders in Central America? All the residents of the countries making up the region have so much in common...language, culture, racial...they could become one nation don't you think? Wouldn't they have more in common with each other than the anglos up north?

Asking if it is America's responsibility is the wrong question.

The correct question is..

Is it in America's best interest?

The answer is yes. Because what happens on your neighbors property can have a major effect on what happens on your own.

Responsible? No.

However, it would be in our best interests to do so.

why do they come here in caravans? because its dangerous in their own countries and they dont have any jobs. now if we made their countries safer, drove out the cartels, and persuaded businesses to set up in those countries, then the caravans would stop coming.

simple. you can stop the bleeding with a bandaid, or you can fix the cut.

Not it's not our responsibility, and no that's not racist.

However, it is in our interest to help those places succeed. They're in our hemisphere and the Chinese are beating us to it.

So there's that.

I have been saying it for years, if you want to end the current endless poverty and corruption, we need to make them special US territories under an elected governor who is supervised by US Federal law enforcement agencies under the sovereign laws of the constitution of the United States.

We have tried for decade after decade after decade to support Democratic governments and the ALWAYS revert to corrupt dictatorships.

Stop trying to support these nations who eventually will elect some Socialist who will declare himself "President for life".

Make them special US territories. Self governed but with corruption buffers (US law and law enforcement) in place.

Sure, we have corruption but nothing like you see in the rest of the world.
