Sure, this could go in the TV forum but it's really all about the cooking so I wen't against the grain and put it here.

Having loads of fun with this show where the inimitable Alton Brown takes his old episodes of Good Eats and revamps(reloads, I guess) them. Fascinating and as always, funny as hell.

For those who like to cook(obviously) and if you are that person you are probably like me and have seen many of the old episodes. Even if you have I suggest watching the show as the new info makes it worth it.

One of the best cooking shows ever as he delves into food theory and why you make food a certain way.

Yeah, his show was all chemistry and nutrition lessons.

It was a cooking show for nerds, which you just outed yourself as

I'm just kidding I loved it too.

The wife and I like watching these cooking shows where they taught people about the science of cooking. The new age recipes are not compatible with many ancestral lines of people. It takes many generations for humans to be able to incorporate some foods into our diet. Many times cooking the food well helps to disable the chemistry that causes us harm but it often also lowers necessary vitamins and other necessary chemicals in the food if the temperature gets too high. It is possible to lower the boiling point of soups and stews to keep some necessary chemicals from falling apart.

Have not seen this here in OZ.

Having said that, there is a plethora of food and cooking shows these days.

Gordon Ramsay can be amusing and Anthony Bourdain will be sorely missed.

As NB mentioned, Iron Chef is fun ( now that I realise it is a bit tongue in cheek ).

There is a show by Gerard Depardieu (sp?) that showcases his gluttony ... not so good.

I will keep my eyes open for Alton Brown. Cheers !

I did one of his Thanksgiving turkey recipes years ago and it was fabulous. I don't cook much anymore but I am still fascinated by the science of cooking and this show has that in spades. Yeah, I dig "W" too and such a great rip-off from the Bond movies.

Then again, everything he does on this show is mostly ridiculous but done in such a way that you can really learn what the hell you are actually doing in the kitchen.

Anyway, hope youse guys enjoy. Also looking forward to some new episodes of the show, as stated above as I have seen most of the old ones.
