Thanks, that's much better.

From this new scan I think we can rule out something during the scanning process and damage on the photo, as we can see some damages on the photo and they look slightly different.

What we cannot rule out is some damage on the negative, as any thing on the negative will appear as part of the photo when the photo is printed on paper.

Edited to add that I asked my sister, a professional photographer, and that's also her opinion.

I didn't misinterpret anything, it was my subjective response to your curt reply for the OP. I think your initial response was more of a conviction statement than an opinion...but then again, that's just my opinion and probably not yours. At least you actually gave an opinion at the end of your second post.

I think you are wrong.

The circled parts of the image appear to be film scratches/defects, whereas the anomaly in question appears to be dark with different tonal areas [as with the two boats]...a white area to the rear and then a kind of plume that almost matches the colour of the cloud line. It looks like an actual airborne object to me, but I am also NOT saying it is anything exotic or extra terrestrial.

It's almost impossible to ever say what this is....sorry.

I looks to be on the photo rather than in the photo but even that can't be said with certainty.

Peace"

I agree, From my time as a photographer (Both 35mm and digital) It looks like some heat was applied (Not intentional) and some dirt caused a smudge or smear rather than a scratch. The darker part is the dirt (or whatever) which became embedded in the photo upon cooling while the "light" streak is the smear.

This does appear to be on the photo (3D effect in the larger scan the OP posted) rather than on the negative, which is why I am thinking some heating of the photo at some point which will cause the emulsion to become slightly liquid allowing the smearing rather than scratches.

This could all be what is. I don't know.
I appreciate the information and knowledge sharing.

Think I will shelve this for a bit. I will answer posts of course.

In the next day or so. I will endevour to post a live video of numerous ufos. Full on in your face, threatening myself, multiple people trying to take video crapola.
Looking forward to what you guys have to say.
