Full page blocking Acura ad

Dang it is so fun browsing ATS and having to close a full page ad every 15 seconds. And what a relevant and effective ad it is, if I had a dime for every time I impulse bought a car because of an internet ad that stopped me from viewing desired content.

Seriously who is this for? People with enough money to impulse buy a random car don’t buy Acura suvs.

I feel like every other day ATS is doing everything in its power to stop me from reading content. From the mid-page ads completely blocking thread titles to the full page ads breaking my concentration every 15 seconds.

Does ATS get more revenue from ads that annoy users more?

You could always use an AD Blocker. They do work.

I’m on Mobil (iPhone) and I have the “block pop ups” setting turned on but it doesn’t seem to work very well.

Does anyone know of another method to block ads on Mobil?

You don't see them if you log in. That said how many people never sign up because the ads are so overwhelming? I bet many.

don't ever get any...no blockers either...stay logged in and use desktop version on mobile...zoom in and out....

stay logged in...no ads, auto plays, page cvrs

a reply to: Quantumgamer1776 I created a post about this last night. It got sent to the thrash bin forum by semperfortis. No clue as to why. While responding to your OP I have had a full page car ad pop up about six times. Some say it’s better on the desktop version of the site. But I am in agreement with someone who responded to my post. The owners are money hungry. Only reason I can see them allowing their mods to take down stuff that calls attention to the fact that users are getting annoyed at all this stupidity. Probably my last post on ats. 🍺

P.s Kinda hope that the first amendment starts to be supported on social sites like this one.

I keep getting Political Ads that block my entire screen and even some posts and I'm not able to close them don't know what's happening to ATS but these ads can be horrendous.

Ah, I am using the Mobil version, never got used to desktop version on mobil but maybe il have to give it a try.

Same here. I am logged in and there are banner ads at the top and bottom of the page.

I'm logged in on my phone all the time as well and I get these awful ads that completely cover up entire sections of the New category while I'm trying to browse.

If I try to use an adblocker, I get a warning at the top of the page where the ad banner should be telling me that some functionality of the forum will be unavailable until I disable the blocker.

I bookmarked my opened starter page of choice w a link to click...and I'm there...all my devices..zero ads...maybe 1-2 small ones..a MONTH if at all...then gone...am always logged and bookmarked at NEW

Yep. It's getting bad enough that I'm considering stopping coming on Ats. Seems that only bottom line will effect change.

I'm on my mobile 99% of the time when perusing the site. I'm also logged in. A few weeks back, I was getting nearly full page ads, scolling ads that would re-center on page, and even random pop-up video ads while posting while using Google chrome. That lead me to the ghostery browser app and it works great. No more intrusive ads like before. As far as the "because you're not logged in" explanation, that just wasn't the case for me.

Glad it works like that for you. It obviously does not for many others of us out here.

Right now, while viewing this thread, I have a banner ad for the NFL RedZone channel. Just a second ago, it was an ad for World of Warcraft's new expansion.

Being logged in does not stop the ads. I just refreshed the page and now I have an ad at the bottom of my screen for 23 and Me and one for Telus phone service at the top.

The more you post, the less ads you see as you can see by some of the members who posted on this thread. Just a heads-up. Ad-blockers are against the T&C's and if everyone used them I'm sure the site would not be able to exist. Hosting a site costs money and members pay no money to be here.

From what I've read in similar threads, the ads are sometimes problematic on mobile devices. I use a PC and when I did see ads they weren't covering the screen. Hope it helps a little.

It's amazing how a user can come to the boards with an actual issue and just get a dozen snarky posts.

Pretty much sums up ATS these days.

The bills have to be paid so there will be ads, BUT, the ads we allow do not overtake the page. If you're getting ads that overtake the page and are impossible to "x" out they are being injected by your ISP or a bit of adware on your phone.

I surf the site daily on my iPhoneX, iPad, and my desktop and don't have issues like these.
I'd add that the other 4,000 members who were on today haven't either or we'd have heard a great rumble about it.

Check your mobile browser settings is all I can think of.
I'm sorry you're having issues.
