Why are some things kept under wraps? (Hillary assassination attempt in Denmark)

The recent event in Denmark when the country got shut down made me think about something I was told this summer.

We were at a family gathering and after a heavy dinner (no drinking) me and the other father / husband in the gathering remained seat at the table while the kids ran around. We chit chatted about this and that and I asked into his background as a police officer (not anymore but still employed in security).

At some point we got around to talking about special strike forces etc. Just in general. I was curious because I find that world fascinating. Not to the point where I would want to be a cop though. No specifics about tactics etc, but more just a general "my mate did this and that". He himself wasn't in the strike forces, but a regular cop, but some of his friends were.

Then we somehow land around the subject of police coverage during high profile events and he started talking about how Clinton during Obama visited Denmark around 2012 I think it was, I forget the date details now.

Anyways, he went on to say that a couple of his mates were involved in an operation during the days up till Clintons arrival, where they found weaponry, divers suits and explosives stowed away on a location near copenhagen. They had received intel that a group of people were planning to attack Clinton while in Denmark. Of course they secured the gear but they, according to him, never caught the people were supposed to use the things.

I just sat there with my mouth wide open. This had NEVER been mentioned in public. Not even remotely. And there were no radical police movement or shutting down the country during the time of this event. I would remember that.

Makes me think how weird this latest shutdown was...
Also makes me think... if that Hillary thing was able to happen under radar of the public and media, how much are we not being told and why not?

Did the notion that it never happened occur to you? At all?

I would imagine that any number of people or groups around the world would like to kill a representative of the US Govt. I wouldn't be surprised to learn there are several situations like this every year.

Don't know why you think a country should or would be "shut down" because of it though.

there are dozens if not more terrorist attacks are being stopped at one stage or other annually in many western countries. The public knows very little or none about these planned attacks.

Why would they tell us? Think about it, would these secret police forces, spies etc give away how they caught them? How they work? Warn other possible suspects that they are into them, give them a chance to change things around? The public does not need to know about these things...

If it didn’t happen, there’s probably no reason for anyone to know about it.
The less information that’s given out to the public the better, because that would give the perpetrators a chance to alter their plan or tactics. Who really knows how many plots are foiled around the globe on a daily basis.

Or, like Phage said, it may just be a fishing story. Maybe he heard that from someone who heard that from someone else and it’s just an exaggerated or tall tale.

In that case, the investigation was still underway, and to release news of this type to the public could disrupt that investigation.

My dad was a cop. He worked on a big case with the FBI that never made it into the public to my knowledge because they didn't want to freak anyone out. This was about 30 years ago or so.

The way my dad described it, he said it was like some sh*t straight out of a movie.

There was a huge restaurant chain in my city. Someone demanded the owner of the restaurant chain give him like $1 million cash or he was going to poison restaurant patrons.

The person demanding the money had it setup so that the the cops had to go to phone booths to receive a call and then he'd tell them where to go next. Finally, after running around the city, there were supposed to drop the money off a bridge into the Chattahoochee river. Anyway, they dropped the money off the bridge.

The FBI /detectives were on the bank of the river and lo and behold they see a back pack bob up to the top of the water. It turns out the guy had on scuba diving equipment and had gotten the money. However, the current was too strong and the back pack brought him too high up and he was spotted. He was caught.

He was a disgruntled employee and had planned to leave the country with the money. This is the kicker though. In his car, they found a bunch of those individual sugar packs people use for coffee and ice tea. Apparently, he had carefully cut them open and put some kind of powdered poison in the packs and resealed them. So that is how he planned to poison the restaurant customers.

The guy had everything planned out to a T. Only reason he was caught was that he underestimated how hard it would be to stay down in the river with the scuba gear on and the backpack that floated.

Fascinating. 2kg-3kg more lead and he would have had a good chance to escape. Planned everything but forgot to take the buoyancy of that backpack into consideration.

I wonder if he had a rebreather because of the bubbles.

Guy who told the guy who told you was probably a friend of Clinton's and, like her, a fan of "right-wing conspiracy theories".
