I agree and have since New Orleans was swamped.

However the reason people rebuild is simply economics. You (an individual or company) may still have a binding mortgage to pay whether or not you choose to rebuild and you would have no asset value to balance the continuing liability of a loan.

Until there are incentives to not rebuild (perhaps loan forgiveness, or financial grants to ease the burden or other solutions) then people are locked into a specific location.

Even if a property is owned outright, even with insurance payments, the land asset would be lost in not rebuilding.

It's a 'wicked' problem requiring new understanding and multi-stakeholder collaboration to find solutions.

Yes. And the purpose of my post was to open up the discussion on the large problems that our old style economic and ownership laws bind us to. Thank you again,

We live in a disposable world !

so much money to be made re'building it all.
if they all made one foot think concreat walls and roofs.
they would make no more money.

Every thing you buy is disposable.
Including YOU!
