This is to try and explain why Turkey is regularly part of the news , or why it is a critical state in the East West divide . It introduces the
concept of political capital , in this case mainly reputational capital, for Turkey and the US and Saudi Arabia regarding the case of Jamal
Ksshmoggi.
In the world today you have two competing co-operation organisations , two economic and military conglomerates, roughly defined as the East and the
West , and these two fight proxy wars in the contested states , which neighbour each other's overall jurisdiction , (for example Ukraine, Vietnam ,
Korea , Afghanistan , Iraq , Yemen , Syria, Venezuela , Brazil (these two are part of the Eastern alliance)) , and they struggle internally in certain
countries to wrest control of political power .
A good example is the attempted coup in Turkey . Libya was a swing state and suffered its recent destruction because of gaining ties to the East ,
crucially upsetting the influence of the West in northern Africa . Africa itself is a general battleground between East and West , the West having
already lost South Africa to the lure of alliance with BRICASTI (the East) .
Think about Turkey :
Joining Nato in 1952 anchored Turkey to the West. Thirteen years ago, it started negotiations to join the European Union. But as relations
with both have deteriorated, Turkey has realigned itself, towards Russia and some Middle Eastern neighbours, which don't criticise the plummeting
state of democracy here. And that is serious. In trade, security and military might, Turkey is too important for the West to lose.
Anti-US rhetoric Pro-government media hammers home the message on a regular basis, one recent editorial screaming that the US is Turkey's new
enemy and that people should besiege the US military base here. A recent poll suggested that two-thirds of Turks see the US as their biggest threat.
"The relationship is probably the worst since 1974 - since the Cyprus crisis," says Unal Cevikoz, a former Turkish ambassador to London. "It matters
because Turkey is in a neighbourhood where we have so many problems and they all have repercussions for Europe. The new members of Nato and the EU are
concerned about Russian advances in Ukraine and Crimea. Nato needs solidarity - and that depends on good relations between Turkey and the United
States."
The West has ties , alliances , control, with other middle East states such as Saudi Arabia , Israel , UAE , and formerly , Turkey .
Now bringing the topic up to date , bearing in mind you've had a mere skim of information about what the world situation is ,
Turkey has evidence that Jamal KAshmoggi , the journalist was killed in the Saudi embassy inside Turkey : this amounts to pure political capital for
Turkey as representing the East - a chance to demonstrate the wickedness and double standards of the Saudi dictatorship . Others are turning the news
into political capital of their own , eg Trump getting a pastor accused and detained in Turkey for being part of the coup attempt (orchestrated by the
West ) out of Turkey in an apparent exchange for appeals to the US over the Kashmoggi incident, which he denies . You want some political capital? -
then dish me out mine first . Further significant others are refusing to attend a financial summit in Saudi , painting themselves in a humanitarian
and sympathetic light , while Richard Branson is pulling out of his tourism deal in Saudi . All protecting their own interests in the light of certain
bad press
All this amounts to telling double standards, and political capital grabbing, from all sides , Turkey has slaughtered/purged Kurds in numbers while
the US said little about this attack on this people they used as advantageous then abandoned , the US & EU dont want to fall out with Turkey too badly
, so they're listening while the Turks declare their evidence about Kamal , but unwilling to punish Saudi Arabia . And how about those walkers away
from the finance conference ? They know full well that Saudi is a repressive and brutal country to live in , but now they look bad , with evidence to
boot , they're cutting ties post haste . At least the Saudis , if you annoy them , will just blend you , although we've yet to see any journalists
there clamouring for a reaction from the crown prince .
Turkey who probably do have evidence of murder inside the saudi consulate , gained from an apple watch Kamal used , are likely going to bleed this
story out , every piece will touch nerves within the West while damaging the reputations of Saudi and the US and calling questions over their ties
.
