An intact tomb from the early Mycenaean era (1650-1400 BC) has been unearthed by archaeologists in the region of Nemea, southern Greece.
Decorated pottery, copper knives, swords, arrows, obsidian, pins, jewelry, and seal stones were also recovered from the pits. During the late Mycenaean period (1400-1200 B.C.), bodies are thought to have been placed on the floor of the tomb. The eventual collapse of the tomb’s roof in antiquity helped to protect the site.
the Illiad and Oddessy were referencing Myceneans, not later Greek civilization.

Really cool find! This tomb is from a period just a couple centuries after the mysterious Bronze age collapse. Man, if I could time travel, this is damn near one time Id consider going too.

If you really want to blow your mind, start digging around in pre 1600bc history, the mysterious "Sea People" The Phonecians, Minoans, Myceneans...something tremendous had just recently occured during the time of this tomb, that literally changed the entirety of Western history.
Even a green Sahara is somewhat relative in terms of the pre Bronze age collapse! The people who buried these people likely had knowledge of history you and I may never know. Its humbling
