I just stumbled across this an didnt think it had been posted on here. Apparent 'world first' but aside from the willy waving, it uses grpahene batteries, graphene skin and 3d printed graphene.

www.digitaltrends.com...

Its only a scaled model but they are saying its 17% lighter than carbon composite (in general) which would be a significant weight improvement for new wings.

(Why is ATS the only site which makes it hard to post an image)

Why can't these 'journalist's' ever write an article without mentioning BREXIT?

Isn't Graphene the material that supposedly "flexes like feathers"?

A trickle down of what the military already possesses?

I guess its stealth characteristics must be rather good as well...

OP - the link does not seem to work.

Graphene is an amazing material. Here's an overview from the inventors... Manchester Uni Graphene

Not sure how Brexit gets into this, except at a theoretical level at the moment, but with the UK now having to stand on its own two feet it may be more protective of such discoveries. Bodies such as the EU's Graphene Flagship has been made possible by the UK. The risk to the EU is that their blinkered position on "third countries" will cut them out of the UKs research output.

For graphene itself not so much.

Composites containing graphene layers or flakes work supposedly quite well.

I think Astr0 might have alluded to this in a past thread from 2014 or so...
