I am a giant Peter Joseph fan, and this video may be good for people who aren't familiar with him and his ideas. He was speaking to none other than Jesse Ventura on his show. Though I'm not sure if we could transition %100 to a resource based economy or not, he is 100% correct about the massive problems and imbalances with our current economic system.

I watched the video and the guy talked a lot but didn't actually say anything... basically a bunch of utopian BS.

The only imbalance that really matters is we have more people than brainpower.

Then you weren't really listening, but most of his videos have more detail, I thought this was a good, brief overview.

Much better to carry on with an economic model that isn’t sustainable and right off alternative ideas as utopian BS.

The economy we have is about pure greed and exploitation.

I’ve noticed you’re lacking in the brain power department yourself, it might take you a while but you should think before you speak.

I've seen the guy before. It's the same laughable low-intellect liberal nonsense that left-wing idiots have been spewing forth since 1917.

Oh, and I've noticed that you failed to add anything at all to this conversation that could be considered on-topic. It might take you a while, but perhaps you should think about following your own advice, M'Kay?

I have had a bunch of long conversations with one of my friends who is all wrapped up in the zeitgeist movement etc. it is really all a sham.

The whole premise is that people are good. People will only take what they need for free... I’m sorry, I’m not religious, but evil does exist. Not all are good (granted he didn’t say that). Anyone with a little bit of sociology lessons can tell you that people will start herding. It will take just a few to be bad apples and people will follow suit and then you have a mess of everyone. Plus with so much time on your hands everyone will either become totally lazy or have no skills.

Population will be out of control! Or are we going to be limited like China?

There will be no drive in the populace. This is kinda like being without skills but what about defense? You think people that only have to work one hour a day will want to go fight! Ppfff ok... we cant get everyone to vote as it is (mentioned in the video btw).

There’s more that I have but I can seriously just go on and on how it will not work.

I think he’s onto something with the energy sector though, we need to get more power, and cleaner to the people to forward our nation.

Yeah, umm, first off, read my last post. It's right above this one, so it should be really easy for you to find.

Second, are you SERIOUS? Don't misunderstand me, I'm a YUUUUGE Star Trek fan, but as much as I would love to believe otherwise, the Federation of Planets is fictional.

Now, I bet you are thinking "Why would you say that?", right?

Because that's what he's describing, except on a planetary scale, as opposed to a galactic one. The same concepts have been called many things over the years, utopia, a worker's paradise, or the classic struggle between proletariat and bourgeoisie.

Unfortunately, it's a pipe-dream, and I for one, ain't buying it.

First off what did you add that was on topic? Other than to bash liberals and the left which isn’t on topic.
I pointed out in my first post we need a better economic system. We currently have one based on constant growth and expansion which isn’t sustainable with finite resources. It might have worked for the previous centuries but it won’t for this one.

Only complete narcissist would think otherwise. There might not be such a thing as a utopia as life will always be a struggle but we can do better. Things like manufactured obsolescence should be banned outright for a start. We could make a big difference by just not throwing so much things in the dump. In the U.K. one third of all food produced is thrown away, wasted, what is the point in producing and buying that extra food in the first place? It’s a waste of energy all round.

Greed is the problem. Pure wanton greed, and for what? So people say they have more than others. America exemplifies that attitude, everything you guys have is over sized and over kill. Look at the amount of obscenely obese people you have, your massive SUVs for driving round town in, and not least of all your national debt which your never going to pay off. A house of cards will always come crashing down at some point.

The bubble and burst economy is doomed anyway, we need to transition to sustainable practices for future generations sooner rather than later.
M’kay?

How about we go back to the gold standard. That's a resource based economy. Paper is supposed to be a representation of an amount of gold.

Then don't spend money you don't have.

Done

Because we all know getting rid of the Fed reserve will not happen.

My, my, are we cross?

And I WAS on topic. My remarks were about THE VIDEO of, well, I don't recall, or care, but the point that I was making is that it was typical socialistic twaddle, that has been touted time and time again, over and over, since the Russian revolution.

It was twaddle then, and it's twaddle today. 100 years from now, it'll still be twaddle.

You are familiar with the word twaddle, yes? I can provide a proper definition, should you require one. I am, of course, ALWAYS at your service, sir. You only need to ask.

And just so you know, I would NEVER drive one of those absolutely inexcusable SUVs.

I drive a Mustang GT. Her name is Omalee. (it's a revered family name)

I just call her Omy.

What makes you think capitalism must be replaced with socialism? Im not even saying it needs to be replaced at all, but all these “isms” seem like a con to me, or every tried ism so far has been corrupted.

what I’m talking about is a sustainable economy and to realistically achieve that we all need to contribute and push for it in the first place. I’m all for going back to the gold standard but it was gotten rid of soley to achieve the fiat debt based economy we now have.

A Mustang GT eh? Well at least you’ve got taste.

If it's corruption you are concerned with, yerm limits are the first place id start. Second is higher punishments for any wrongdoing in a position of power such as an elected official. These people swear an oath and then use their power to enrich themselves. These people put themselves in the position to represent their constituents...they don't have to have this job. They should know the pricethat would come with it.

We need to motivate or only have people that are motivated, to do good for their country. Both sides of the aisle are highfiving each other when they get off stage.

Capitalism is a sham, and religion, and military spending, and self reliance, etc etc.

No it isn't, it's premised on decreasing dependency on money, and increasing public resources.

I completely agree, I always imagined that most of these people at least started out with good intentions but then get corrupted along the way. Or maybe it’s a case of you don’t get that promotion if you’re not corrupt enough or the cabal won’t let these people get anywhere unless they have some leverage over them.

I have some ideas on how to fight back but it would take a long thread of it’s own just to hash them out, and I don’t think it would be worth the effort unless I could bring Trump or Hillary into the equation somehow as that’s all people seem to focus on lately.

It is a sham.
Explain how the best economic system in history is a sham. Just because people are greedy and not accountable for spending the government's money, the people's money, does not make the system a sham. You can put ANY economic system in its place and have the same problems. The problem is, you are not actually addressing the problem. It's the political elite.

Self reliance is a sham? Lololol pick up a history book.

What is money... Its a representation of something. It does not stand alone and mean anything. I think your understanding of money is off.

No it isn't, it's premised on decreasing dependency on money, and increasing public resources.

Actually it is increasing dependency on the government... Great idea...
