But it's okay. Dada has already survived beyond the longer average time for people with her condition and hopefully we still have some more years together.

This made me cry, just happy grateful tears, that there are people like you and Dada in this world. You are amazing people and I am humbled to have come to know a tiny fraction of your life. Following your struggles and victories, these past years have been an inspiration to me.

On a more practical level, do you have a clone? I could make good use of a "jack of all trades".
I would do the cooking though. Good to see you. Give Dada a big hug.

I'll gladly share the kitties space in the barn.

Loved the pic of our dear Dada with the cat! I see a cute teddy bear in the corner.

Indeed. The Shed appears to be a safe haven that some return to when they can.

Big Up to Mike and Dada and the kitties. I'm not sure about the colour of those new roof tiles but maybe they will weather-in with time.

Good early evening to everyone!

It is early evening. If, for you, it is not, then you are a confirmed time traveller and ATS will go nuts.

Been at my friend's place for a while. Eating bacon and taking booze shots. Or only just looking how cute the cats are.

Host fell asleep, but he set a some kind of an alarm to wake him up after an hour or so. So i came here. Taking shots of booze and listening to seether on my mp3 player. Host wanted to fall asleep while listening to a news broadcast. Don't ask me why
We are so different on so many levels but still, best friends

Yes.

I read ATS for over a decade before i joined last year. And found The Shed after i joined. And now i maybe literally could not live without this place.

Ok saying this direct: I have god, my best friend, my mom and The Shed with me. Therefore, i am not alone in this universe battlng against alcoholism, depression and anxiety.

Because the newscaster has a stable repeating voice that when listened to can get you to sleep quickly. My Dad did the same thing everyday when he came home. I'd make him a cup of black coffee, he'd put the news on and light a cigarette and ask me to be quiet. The coffee was half drunk, the cigarette half smoked and within 5 minutes he'd be snoring like an old man. A 10-15 minute nap.

"In other news, 2 people bla bla di bla etc encore. Police mystified. And in sports news, bla di blah, unintelligible murmurings, interspersed with large reassuring words that lull you off to sleep.

Here's Tom with the weather..."

Before I forget, Sheye asked what I buy at the supermarket. I buy bread, bacon and butter and beer, not all at the same time. That's pretty much it. Eggs are a rarity because it's hard to poach a yolk without breaking it sometimes. 6 eggs is a box, at least 2 get broken/wasted. I never cry over spilt milk but those yolks can leave a nasty stain if I don't clean it up straight away.

Oh, and when my money came in, I went to the cheese shop (they only sell cheese. OK, and olives, nuts and cold meats too apparently, but mainly just cheese) and bought myself a pound of cheese. First time in months if not a year. I always assumed I had good taste but 8 dollar/euro/pounds a pound brought a lump to my throat as I walked out the door. Still, it's very nice cheese and the supermarket doesn't sell it. Mustard cheese. They make it with raw, whole mustard seed, not mustard sauce and it tastes fantastic and mild. It doesn't taste like "mustard cheese", if that makes sense. It goes great in a bacon sandwich too. Poached egg yolk optional.

That's a lot better than what I used to get. Chicken fingers, pizza, ice cream, cheesecake, granola bars, more pizza lol.

Ambient is dreamy and you will sleep like a baby. Low BPM's (beats per minute), spacy, welcoming, soothing tones that sound like you're floating on a little fluffy cloud. I used to go to bed and put on a 12 hour playlist and would awaken to the gentle sounds the next morning completely at peace with the world after around 10 hours.

This song isn't so "quiet" and I can easily think of better sleep songs but this song/album is the first time I heard the genre back in 1980something. Nodens Ictus.

Thank you, WIS. I think it can be cathartic to share a little of hard times we experience, and also uplifting to do likewise with better times.

Do I have a clone? Well, not right now. I did have a doppelganger about 35 years ago. Quite a few people I met commented on this, saying they'd known the other guy. He was a missionary in New Guinea, flying a light plane from one airstrip hacked out of jungle to another, but unfortunately one day his pane went down. So I never got the chance to meet him. But folks who knew him said we looked liked identical twins.

Anyway, back to the "jack of all trades" thing. I think it's good to use whatever skills we can; I've been fortunate that I pick up how to do things fairly quickly. So I can manage most of the more basic welding, carpentry, plumbing, cement and brick work, panelbeating and mechanical repairs and so on. However I leave the bigger jobs to the pros. It's an education just watching them.

Gave Dada a hug from you.

I'm hoping that next year I can convert some of the upstairs space into extra rooms, so if we have friends visit they have comfy places to sleep. The downstairs in the barn will be our garage and workshop. Hoping to have the basics of that ready before this winter, because having the car out in the snow is pretty rough.

We have lots of teddy bears. I used to collect them, but right now a lot of them are stored away as we lack the room until our big bedroom's been fixed up. I also have about 15 mechanical ones, some quite old. I just like bears!

BTW has Jacy been here lately? Just hoping she's doing ok.

Hi, Light!

Thanks for the "cheers".
Tile colour is a personal choice and not everyone will like it, no matter what. I went for that shade because it's a very tradional one here. Different regions and cultures have their own perspectives on that, but here, it's the colour that most kids will use if asked to draw a pic of a cottage. It's just in the cultural mentality, you see.
