I don't think it has the same spyware problems as Kazaa has. You should be careful with any P2P, though. I've used WinMX before and had no
problems. I use Kazaa Lite now, though.
Its pretty good, you won't get any problems. I have it because my computer freezes everytime I start Kazaa up. But if your computer won't let you
use Kazaa, them WINMX is the next best thing I think. The downloads are pretty fast and a lot of users are on it so you can find pretty much anything
that you need. And it's easy to use too.
Funny thing about Kazaa Lite and Kazoom the enhancement for speed freaks.
The other day McAfee told me the program (executable not any downloaded files) is now infected with some "new" P2P worm. My other a-v software and
an on-line check doesn't confirm the thing at all.
I would still recommend Kazaa Lite for ease of use over the others.
Kazaa Lite has a new version, Kazaa Lite K ++. It has way more features, including allowing downloads from more sources than Kazaa, hiding what you
have in the share folder (so as not to attract attention of the RIA), and a boatload more. I haven't tried it out yet, but if it is an improvement
over Kazaa Lite, I would use that instead of WinMX. But, you should be happy with WinMX.
You can set your participation level at 1000 (surpreme) nd disable to share any files, that way you can fully use your bandwith.
It auto searches for more users.
