I think its a great thing to do.
Most of these sites ask for nothing but atleast 30 dollars a month.
Im sure even the most of us who maybe having troubles with money could afford this.

Its even more of a pity to think that america spent 90 billion on the war, too see all that money go to these poor children. What a difference it would make.

I was watching world vision this morning right after i woke up, i usualy dont due to the fact that i dont have the stomach to see such pain in the faces of children.

The host had gone to africa to meet a praticular young girl, who had never known her father and had lost her mother.
She lived alone in a small hut. Doing chores for the other village folk just to feed her self.
She would trek 3km a day to fetch water so that the other villagers could give her left overs of their meals.
The girl was merely 10 years old if i could remember, the water she would fetch 3 times a day was 40 pounds.

We take for granted the little things in life, that make a huge differnence in these childrens lives.

This topic is very well intentioned; I don't know why it's left alone.

I have some suggestions.

1. Make sure your chosen organisation is not a scam. (One example only - an individual family in Vanuatu, 1992-94, getting filthy rich from multiple monthly donations to their handsome young boy. Including from a really kind man that I know, who swore he would never donate to anything overseas again).

2. Make sure your chosen organisation actually does development work for the community, and does not support certain children in that community over other children. Ask them what their intended projects are before you sign up.

I may be wrong but I think that UNICEF is a good one...

WoW, only 3 people out their seem to be interested in feeding the poor.
Thier must be someone out thier, who has a sponsor child, or if you know anyone who does?...

Well from what i know, it is a good charity.
When i was a kid i used to go house to house with a unicef box on halloween.
When the box was as full as it could get we would give it to our school who in turn would give it to the parent company.
You do have to be cautious with some charitys though.

I see all this as a worthy cause. I contribute to a number of organization's every year.

Looking at this from another perspective though, I ask:

Why are so many people going with out food, fairly clean water, etc.?

Is this really a world responsibility or is it each nation's responsibility?

And a host more questions. I am not trying to be sounding uncaring or insensitive. I think I do what I can to help. But in the case for humanities, one must also look at the 'whys'. Is education the problem? Is it that monatary aids given to poor nation's, indeed, not being utilized properly.

Adopting a child; giving money, etc. to organizations, that have extremely high overhead costs, etc., is this the real solution. Is this not just putting a bandage over the leak in the dam and expecting it to'help'?

I have no doubts, that if we (mankind) put our minds and heads together and prioritized the meaning of unity, that we could diffently end hunger within a year. I believe we can further educate people about being far more responsible about having kids. Its a said state of world affairs being that everyday 30,000+/- children are dying throughout the world. This does not even begin to describe world daily events of this nature.

Sad.......very. This whole world has its priorities in the wrong places....

I read the Grays were using humans to re-evolve some of the sex and emotions they lost through evolution.

Am i missing something? What does Grey's making porn have to do with charities and giving donations to hungry children in 3rd world countries.

I do plenty of voulentere work. I voulenter at an animal shelter 4 hours almost every week. I also do many other voulenteer work. If i was rich i would donate a lot of money to the charities. I feel that money is not the only solution though. The people recieving the money also have to learn how to use it wisely. Education is a vital part in fixing the problem.

Nothing, i was just trying to get people attention.

Buts it more the though of helping than giving money.
Knowing that people understand the reason to help these people.
Just because thier not from out countrys does not mean that we should not help them.
It is a world problem, This is our world.
We cant divide by religiong, cultures, goverment.
Were all one and the same and should help eachother when need comes.

I was doing this too when I was a kid. I think that it has been done in every Canadian school.

I have seen those Sally Struthers & Feed The Children type commercials all my life.
Do not think that some charities don't line thier pockets very nicely.
Thier has been several 60 minutes episodes on this that I have watched as well as other programs on this subject matter.

I have seen unbelievable poverty in several "3rd World" countries and in the US.
I absolutly believe in helping others but be sure the organization is on the up n up.
Research the organization before sending your hard earned cash.

I peform charity work for the homeless and for critically ill children.
There are alot of horror stories out there from people that contribute often to charities that are dishonest and thier monies do not reach the needy.

Just some food for thought...
