here is bucket(using real voice on a podcast) saying Shawn Lane is the best musician he has ever seen or heard and that he does not even have the
capacity to understand the things he did
paul gilbert saying Shawn Lane is the most terrifying guitarist of all time
Guthrie Govan saying how amazing he was. Guthrie has his break into the industry when he decided to try and transcribe a piece of music for the
magazine and he decided to go for the hardest thing he could think of and it was Shawn Lane
2 of Shawn Lanes biggest influences were Conlon Nancarrow who had these amazing studies for player piano. composing music far beyond a humans ability
to play.
another was Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan who was a Pakistani Vocalist.
you can hear these influences in his playing.
anyway i am rambling because i am excited.

Shawn Lane is certainly a virtuoso, although not my type of listening.
All the respect in the world to guys who can play like that though.
A lot of people feel that way about Shawn.
Start at 48 minutes and watch for a few minutes to see what I am saying.
Zappa is my favorite but I think Shawn lane was the best of all time.
Control. Technique. Musicianship.
A true virtuoso. He was like paganini or Beethoven
True story. But the great guitar players like Shawn use a part of their brain that even the greatest composers rarely did and that's the
improvisational aspect. Aggregating all musical knowledge and spitting out music so highly complex and original, in the moment. That's what gets me
the most. Respect.
Zappa is great.
I like a lot of the jazzers. Julian Lage has been my new favorite for a while.
