I saw Alanis Morissette in 1996 at the Phoenix festival at Long Marsten Airfield , I was already a fan but her performance that day sealed her place
in my heart forever , it also introduced me to her drummer , one Taylor Hawkins who absolutely blew me away ... that guy had star potential , wonder
what ever happened to him.
Earlier today I was thinking about Phoenix and the time we had there , as I was with my band at the time I spent much of the five days we were there
off my face so wondered if her performance was as good as I remember it being , well this is from a few months earlier , you tell me , I know what I
think.

Hate or anger ?
I think anger which is what resonated with people and made Jagged Little Pill such a massive hit , the songs were from the heart and filled with
passion in both their construction and performance.

So what?
Imo, the best music is made by channeling emotion. Hate, love, anger, fear, peace, melancholy, etc. It's the reason I listen to anything and
everything from metal to early R+B. Music needs soul to be good. I despise modern Pop exactly because of its lack of emotion and stale, antiseptic,
derivative writing.
Music made with lack of emotion isn't music.
