Lol... not necessarily.

The alert that they're using cookies to track you, does not necessarily come from the same services that are used to track you. Just blocking the message means nothing...

It's not just about EU stories. All US companies and all worldwide companies must adhere to the GDPR if they are processing data of EU subjects. This will be hard for the EU to enforce against many US companies (but not impossible) but for any US company that has an entity/presence in the EU it will be easier as that entity can be targeted... fines go up to 4% of world wide turnover for every breach of the regulation.

Depends on the service... the companies that are properly adhering to the regulation provide a control to the user for them to choose which tracking services they allow and do not track unless that control has been set to YES. There are however exceptions ... some tracking technologies can be used under the GDPR if they are essential for the site to function.
