Anyone else think accepting a million immigrants a year is a bad idea, from a cultural preservation standpoint?

I sure as hell do.

It should be up to the states to determine how many new peeps they want every year.

Said states should also have a plan for those they choose to accept

states rights

States have open borders. How do you plan on keeping California's madness securely in California?

It can't be done. We've been trying for decades, short of turning what's left of the Colorado River into a crocodile-filled moat.

You have no clue how the US Constitution works, how our Republic works, or what the role of the Federal Government is.

Read my signature for a lesson on how America behaved during that time we were called great and it was true.

Your signature is just a poem...
Never has America taken that as policy.
At the current time in history you mentioned the federal government required immigrants to pass a literacy test. So your argument is rather moot...

And how many from war torn/destroyed country's in the ME the USA started and their ''allies''' supported (still allies, saying still because it seems the relation is going dire straights)??
The US won't even come close to Europe fore sure!! (not even slightly!) After WII, especially Germany became very tolerant and open.. (not saying that is a good thing really). Look at Israel, Israel became the opposite, even suppressing many many other people, their goddamn neighbor!! (imo that's way worse!).. weird kinda how that works when looking back from history.

I bet most are coming in the USA are just having good papers(education)/job guarantee and or lots of money/wealth.

At least I know some from my country who went to the USA because they got a good job in the USA (before moving there).
Not sure that's good news really for US citizens when foreigners all getting the good payed jobs!
But the hate is on people from Mexico and such taking the under payed! jobs the US citizens don't want to do them self! (hahaha??).

glad you cleared that up so well

read the doc and have a clue as to what you are saying

Article I, Section 8, clause 4 of the Constitution entrusts the federal legislative branch with the power to “establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization

nothing at all is mentioned about immigration anywhere and that gives the power to the states

can't never could

who said they have to stay in cali.?

if they are legal and have naturalized then they can go anywhere they choose

does this scare you?

do you not trust that the feds could establish a uniform rule of naturalization

illegal immigrants would still be illegal

if someone comes here and starts raising hell then the feds can remove then without state interference if we follow the constitution

It would be up to each state to decide how many immigrants they can handle every year.

just as they currently pretend to do only it would be for realskies

If an immigrant is caught drunk driving then clearly they are not assimilating and can be permanently removed.

All the folks featured this morning as angels could have been helped before the tragedies if only we followed the constitution.

Currently the misunderstanding in the way the system works allows for states and the feds to tie each others hands and the unnaturalized ones win the day.

Follow what i am saying and no longer will judges be able to throw wrenches in the system and allow for violent offenders to be let loose inside the usa

Until the Immigration and Naturalization Act is challenged and overturned, or voted out, its the law of the land.

I won't start throwing up quotes because I do not think it would matter. The link goes to a .gov site, so no viruses. Have a gander. Ill start you in the definitions page, where you are directed to the definitino of both "alien" and "immigrant".

BINGO!

Guess who is challenging it?

You know they will win cause the language is too clear in the constitution and cali no longer wants to give their right to the fed concerning immigration.

That is why it is best for all to start thinking in that direction and why trump has told gop to hold off.

I see freedom on the horizon.

Yes. Bring on the migrants.

Provided they follow our laws - all of them - including immigration laws*

I Love legal immigration.

How come all of the illegals don't get together and form an army here and invade Mexico?

So if i see this right USA is taking 1 immigrant per 300ish citizens while Germany and Turkey 1 per 200 hmmmm...

Normalize your data with general population or landmass for a better comparative ill say

Yeah I noticed that too, which goes to show how much of an idiot Merkel really is. Good grief, they already have 236 people per square kilometer and they are bringing more people in? Sheesh.

Your thought process is honest but fluffed up. Yea I know about the Meek shall inherit the earth and all of that stuff but when the going gets tough the Meek run away. They flee rather than fight and will end up toppling even the good guys [USA].

Notice who was wacked [assinated] yesterday in Mexico running for President? Really go look it up and get back to us. Shove your open borders.

There is no such thing as "good guys". There are only sides, and there are many of them. All of differing moralities at any given time. If your country is a world leader and desires its morality and wants it to spread around the world then the best way to do it is by setting a high bar of expectations. Whether this is idealistic or not doesn't mean we can't strive towards better and better morality all the time.

So what? This happened yesterday too.
Five dead in 'targeted attack' at Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis, police say; Laurel man charged with murder

Furthermore, I never mentioned open borders.
