Why must we fill ourselves with more hatred each and everyday as our temporary existences slowly fade away? Why must we turn the land of the free into the land of hostility? Why must we continuously fight one another when we were bred to love eachother? Why must we all conform from family and friends to Democrat and Republicans? Why must we forget that we are human...

We have learned that those who disagree with us must be forced to conform

We can't just say, I accept your opinion is different, that's ok, we can still get along.

2. Read the works of Plato, Aristotle, John Locke, Thomas Aquinas, Karl Marx, Confucius, Voltaire, Albert Schweitzer, and C S Lewis.

3. Read the Bible.

4. Hollywood.

That is both sad and true. And it's getting worse. I see some say a civil war is coming but I don't see how that could happen. It's not geographical philosophies that are separating them. It's ideological ones.

Its playing out as something of a "cold war". And yea, its somewhat geographical. Coasts vs fly-over-country, rural/ex-urban v. urban.

The hot stage will play out as an economic war of boycotts that will tank the economy.

Something in our culture promotes infantilism well into adulthood.

Perhaps it's our educational system or maybe it's just the way the cookie crumbles in a first world open society, where over time a populous rarely confronted with real world issues, like tyranny, true hardship, or profound loss, is just incapable of understanding how they contribute to their own demise or from recognizing the real perils threatening their way of life.

It shouldn't take something profoundly negative happening to the country to shock some sense back into the people, but history tends to teach otherwise.

All very depressing.
