I totally agree...except for the fact that the comments in this thread and other related ones demonstrate quite vividly that some Americans are perfectly ok with all this. The majority are not.

To me the one silver lining in this immigration imbroglio is that it clearly shows, across party lines, that Americans are not thugs and brutes and that even people who want tight control of the border and an orderly immigration process according to the letter of the law, can not stomach and will not countenance the callous and inhumane treatment of children.
This is the America I love. Thanks for your service to humanity. Smash fascism!

they did this to their country
Who?
You think a nation's citizens have no responsibility over their country?
They do. The Jews had a responsibility over their countries. Look what happened.
? You mean the countries in which they were an ethnic minority? Or do you mean the fabled genocides they committed in the old testament?
They were trying to escape from the genocide in Nazi Germany. And don't forget about Poland too, among other things. They were all responsible for their countries.
So could you please put that into the context of this discussion?
Sure. You're the one who said that the citizens of their countries are responsible for what happens in their countries.

Yes.
The trouble is, I don't think our president understands the concept of diplomacy. He thinks the world is a zero sum game.

Really it shows the American people are gullible and easily distracted. The media tells them what they should be outraged about this week and they take it hook, line, and sinker.
Some basic research into the topic (other than liberal media) is all that is needed to quell the fake outrage and deal with facts.
The change is part of a broad effort by the Obama administration to get a handle on the flood of young immigrants crossing the border. More than 50,000 unaccompanied minors have been caught on the border so far this year, most coming from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. The White House is requesting about $2 billion to house the children and move to the border a flock of immigration judges, U.S. attorneys and asylum advocates to counsel some immigrants on their asylum applications.
But immigration attorneys were ourtraged by the notion of changing a law designed to protect unaccompanied minors who may be victims of trafficking and violence.
"It's an utter devastation of due process for our most vulnerable community members," said Ruthie Epstein, a Washington-based policy analyst at the ACLU.
The White House wants all immigration cases – those that end with a deportation or an approval to remain in the country – resolved more quickly. Immigration courts are backlogged around the country, leaving children and adults waiting months or years for their cases to be resolved.
The 2008 law, which passed both chambers of Congress by unanimous consent and was signed into law by President George W. Bush, dictates exactly how children caught crossing the border without their parents must be treated.
I wonder how many Progressives would complain if Trump ruled by decree to overrule the existing law.....

Some Prominent Conservatives Call On Trump To Stop Separating Migrant Parents & Children
LINK
Alan Dershowitz, Anthony Scaramucci and Bill O’Reilly all spoke out against the practice on Monday.
Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard Law professor emeritus and staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, on Monday spoke out against the administration’s policy that separates migrant children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.
During an appearance on “Fox & Friends” ― a show Trump is known to follow closely ― Dershowitz appealed to the president directly. “You have to end this policy of separating parents from children,” he said. “Not because of the parents, but because of the children.”
“It imposes a trauma on the children. It’s just unacceptable. It’s just not proper,” he went on. “There are other ways of doing this. You can send the parents and the children back together. You can do other things, but separating parents and children ― no matter where you put them, no matter how the facilities may look... It’s not the facilities. It’s the act of separating the parents from the children.”
Trump is a heedless fool, he doesn't see the obvious immorality and evil in what he is doing.
Maybe some of his, usually knuckle headed justifiers can make this blind man see
Here’s Trumps, the mindless jackass’ response, always blaming others for his f____ up Actions.
He posted on Twitter afterward
Why don’t the Democrats give us the votes to fix the world’s worst immigration laws? Where is the outcry for the killings and crime being caused by gangs and thugs, including MS-13, coming into our country illegally?
TypicaL RESPONSE OF A CHILD-LIKE MORON.
You're right, he should rule by decree. Screw trying to figure out a bipartisan solution, despite dealing with #Resistance.

Actually, 100% of them are unaccompanied. Since they arrived on their own or were removed from their parents by the government.
