Most of those children showed up to the border without a parent.

To me the one silver lining in this immigration imbroglio is that it clearly shows, across party lines, that Americans are not thugs and brutes and that even people who want tight control of the border and an orderly immigration process according to the letter of the law, can not stomach and will not countenance the callous and inhumane treatment of children.

This is the America I love. Thanks for your service to humanity. Smash fascism!

I totally agree...except for the fact that the comments in this thread and other related ones demonstrate quite vividly that some Americans are perfectly ok with all this. The majority are not.

Really it shows the American people are gullible and easily distracted. The media tells them what they should be outraged about this week and they take it hook, line, and sinker.

Some basic research into the topic (other than liberal media) is all that is needed to quell the fake outrage and deal with facts.

they did this to their country

Who?

You think a nation's citizens have no responsibility over their country?

They do. The Jews had a responsibility over their countries. Look what happened.

? You mean the countries in which they were an ethnic minority? Or do you mean the fabled genocides they committed in the old testament?

They were trying to escape from the genocide in Nazi Germany. And don't forget about Poland too, among other things. They were all responsible for their countries.

So could you please put that into the context of this discussion?

Sure. You're the one who said that the citizens of their countries are responsible for what happens in their countries.

Hopefully you can understand the difference between an ethnic minority and an ethnic majority. If say an ethnic majority creates a theocracy, and you import and make them an ethnic majority over here what do you think will happen? If the ethnic majority of a nation corrupts their nation decade after decade, what do you think happens if you make them a majority over here?

Yes.

The trouble is, I don't think our president understands the concept of diplomacy. He thinks the world is a zero sum game.

Children suffer all throughout the world, the military budget could be cut by 100s of billions and proper programs put in place to help them all over the world, same way we have military bases all over the world.

But the outrage of the liberal is a selective one. And the measures that are necessary in some cases, like regulation of reproduction, are abhorrent to them. They don't mind children being abused if the solution would demand the regulation of reproduction.

I love it when Democrats get caught lying -

Obama seeks change to law that protects immigrant kids Alan Gomez, USA TODAY Published 12:00 p.m. ET July 2, 2014 | Updated 7:02 p.m. ET July 2, 2014

The change is part of a broad effort by the Obama administration to get a handle on the flood of young immigrants crossing the border. More than 50,000 unaccompanied minors have been caught on the border so far this year, most coming from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. The White House is requesting about $2 billion to house the children and move to the border a flock of immigration judges, U.S. attorneys and asylum advocates to counsel some immigrants on their asylum applications.

But immigration attorneys were ourtraged by the notion of changing a law designed to protect unaccompanied minors who may be victims of trafficking and violence.

"It's an utter devastation of due process for our most vulnerable community members," said Ruthie Epstein, a Washington-based policy analyst at the ACLU.

The White House wants all immigration cases – those that end with a deportation or an approval to remain in the country – resolved more quickly. Immigration courts are backlogged around the country, leaving children and adults waiting months or years for their cases to be resolved.

The 2008 law, which passed both chambers of Congress by unanimous consent and was signed into law by President George W. Bush, dictates exactly how children caught crossing the border without their parents must be treated.

click link for entire article.

The bolded part is the lie. Democrats keep claiming there was no law and their is. They claim its a policy Trump can change when the law in question says how illegal minors are to be handled.

In 2008 Democrats controlled both houses of Congress. The law was passed by UNANIMOUS consent.

Some Prominent Conservatives Call On Trump To Stop Separating Migrant Parents & Children

LINK

Alan Dershowitz, Anthony Scaramucci and Bill O’Reilly all spoke out against the practice on Monday.

Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard Law professor emeritus and staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, on Monday spoke out against the administration’s policy that separates migrant children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.

During an appearance on “Fox & Friends” ― a show Trump is known to follow closely ― Dershowitz appealed to the president directly. “You have to end this policy of separating parents from children,” he said. “Not because of the parents, but because of the children.”

“It imposes a trauma on the children. It’s just unacceptable. It’s just not proper,” he went on. “There are other ways of doing this. You can send the parents and the children back together. You can do other things, but separating parents and children ― no matter where you put them, no matter how the facilities may look... It’s not the facilities. It’s the act of separating the parents from the children.”

Trump is a heedless fool, he doesn't see the obvious immorality and evil in what he is doing.

Maybe some of his, usually knuckle headed justifiers can make this blind man see

Here’s Trumps, the mindless jackass’ response, always blaming others for his f____ up Actions.

He posted on Twitter afterward

Why don’t the Democrats give us the votes to fix the world’s worst immigration laws? Where is the outcry for the killings and crime being caused by gangs and thugs, including MS-13, coming into our country illegally?

TypicaL RESPONSE OF A CHILD-LIKE MORON.

You're right, he should rule by decree. Screw trying to figure out a bipartisan solution, despite dealing with #Resistance.
I wonder how many Progressives would complain if Trump ruled by decree to overrule the existing law.....

Existing laws are said to affect even THE executive order by Trump. It is said they expect lawsuits as it goes against existing law.

90% of children in holding facilities were not accompanied by a family member.

Why are thousands of children crossing a desert risking rape and death? Why? The sanctuaries, welfare, etc offered by the democrats to buy votes. They incentivize the death and rape of children with their virtue signaling.

When Trump was elected the numbers crossing illegally went down, or so the rumor goes, but the constant blockades of his strong stance on immigration emboldened people to risk the journey again in greater numbers.

and 80% of the minors currently in custody are unaccompanied minors. Secondly when a family illegally crosses the border and the adults are charged the minors become.. wait for it.. unaccompanied minors while the parents are in the legal system.

So you wanna try and take another swing at it or concede the fact Obama and Trump are dealing with the same issues, the same court rulings and the same laws. The difference being Democrats are ignoring the courts order in Flores vs Reno and Flores vs Meese by trying to push family detention. Democrats are pushing this because they know the courts wont allow it at which point the side the Democrats will support will make a motion to release all minors to their family members and demanding the court to free the family members to take custody of their children.

Then they will demand they be released RoR with a court date they wont show up for because it is illegal to detain families and by extension Democrats have conned a court into sanctioning open borders.

... and that is exactly what has happened. Trumps EO to keep families together is now being challenged... with demands to release the entire family into the USA.

It was never about the kids. It was and is, as always, about votes. Illegal votes.

Actually, 100% of them are unaccompanied. Since they arrived on their own or were removed from their parents by the government.

I guess there's been a surge in accompanied minors since Trump started his "no tolerance" policy. I think I read somewhere something like 2500 families had been separated in like 6 weeks.
