Vietnam was a giant toilet we flushed young American men down. It was practically a death sentence. A sad and scary time for teenage boys. College came off the deferment program at the end and it was really hard to stay out of the jungle. Too many never came back. I'm not for running from duty but I sure understand why some did.

My youngest just signed up for the navy. He's going to be in their nuclear engineering school for the next two years before he takes a submarine position.

It is not a think or act thing, it is positioning what one deems important or not. The vast majority of the military do not hold others in disregard because they did not serve too, or that serving is some badge of honor to be used politically in either a positive or negative way.

How does one dodge the draft 5 times?

Every time he was required to report he brought a doctor's note. His father had influence. If he wanted to serve, his father could have gotten him a posting. In fact, if he were thinking ahead he could have arranged a safe posting, like Bush and Gore got.

I think after the 1st time that would be it and stop calling him up for the same war.

Now I could believe the 5 times if it were for 5 different wars.

So just a doctors note would get you out of the draft, eh? 5 times in a row, even.

Was it the same note? The military doesn't check?

You want me to address every war/contingency? I was talking about the draft...did we draft in Iraq.

As a 28 plus year vet involved in all that including panama, and still going to Iraq/Afghanistan now and then, no I don't think we should have removed Saddam, and we should have stayed out of Afghanistan too. As well as we can fight we can not occupy worth a crap, so that just leaves holes that even worst people fill. To occupy we need to be willing to kill a good chunk of the population, and if we are not willing then we should not fight.

Trump has no legal authority to fire Mueller.

That is the whole premise of the Special Counsel.

Rosenstein can fire Mueller.
Sessions can fire Mueller if he un-recuses.
Trump can fire both Sessions and Rosenstein if they don't fire Mueller like he tells them to.
Whoever becomes Acting AG or Acting Deputy AG can fire Mueller.
But Trump can't fire Mueller.

It is like saying Trump assured people he would not flap his arms and fly.

Pretty sure this is no longer a cointel investigation. Mueller was authorized to investigate criminal matters. The scope has widened significantly under the special counsel. Not sure why that's so difficult to comprehend.

It is not difficult it is illegal.

We have this thing called the constitution that dictates what can and can not happen.

Changing the scope or type of investigation is not really legal in this case.

The founders seen this bs a mile away and knew peeps would try these types of attacks on our representative democracy.

Sorry, there isn’t a thread on this site that contains any info to cast legal doubt on the legitimacy of the special counsel’s investigation. It’s perfectly legal, and it’s moving forward.
And there’s nothing you can do about it.
