The Rulers of Europe: For Every Year From 400 B.C. To 2018.

I came across this youtube video today, and I found it very interesting.

As the title says it shows the rulers of the European countries from 400 B.C. to 2018.

The person who put this together did a lot of research and work.

If you are a history buff you may find this fascinating to watch.

Having originally come from the peninsula of Istria in Croatia on the Adriatic, it was very interesting to watch all that and see all the names that we used to learn in school.

It's incredible how long Rome was an empire and just how vast it was, not even showing Africa and Asia.

I've got a fairly broad sweep of knowledge of European history, and this person seems to have done an excellent job.
I could spot no major faults, though I suppose there may be occasional errors of detail or over-simplifications.
It would be worth combining this with some other reference which would explain the evolutions of the different kingdoms, like the Colin McEvedy series of Penguin Atlases of History (maps and commentary on facing pages).

I used to feel comfortable living in relatively peaceful war-free Europe but after watching that, not so much any more. Your video makes it look like the human slaughter capital of the world.

Actually, it shows that no empire ever lasts.

Many of these fell from within. Rome is a good example. As it weakened from infighting and decadence, you can truly watch it in this video as all sides just start to crumble and the empire collapses.

All the BS and josteling for territory stopped when Nukes showed up...lol...typical.

We actually live in an era of unprecedented Peace around the world.

The media and common perception are wrong because they depict us at "constant war" which is out of context.

War has been waged yearly somewhere this whole time. But today it is very limited in scope.

It isn't perfect world peace yet but we are very close!!

That explains with some of those leaders why Europe is such a dysfunctional mess of dictators.

I disagree with you on your statement

I agree with you that corruption
and the loss of adherence to law
(which makes
us all equal I might add)
are the ingredients for the
rotting of empires from the inside out.
