They said on CNN during the live address going on now...that this is not to be seen as a one-time only event, but rather an ongoing effort to stop the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

Russia can counter in many ways - it doesn't have to be in a direct conflict. Assuming no immediate retaliation by Russia is a win is a bad way of thinking.

Pentagon briefing

No response by Russian forces. No coordination or advance notice of targets given to Russians except usual daily airspace coordination message from the CAOC in Qatar last night.

I literally just heard Mattis say that He didn't have evidence yesterday of a Syrian chemical attack and then get asked when did you get evidence. His response was yesterday. right after he said he didn't have evidence apparently. He would not even say what agent was used. How can you have evidence and you can't even say what agents were used in the attack?

According to reports yesterday, Russia was only going to intercept them if they targeted Russian equipment or troops, and would only retaliate if Russians were killed.

Syria is a country that can be used to test weapons systems by both Russia and the US.

Russia gets to test their equipment to shoot down our missiles and the US gets to test it's new missiles.

The US was in touch with Russia to make sure that there was not an escalation that could actually hurt either the US or Russia.

No WW3. This was just armies playing with their toys in someones else s neighborhood.

This attack was just media hype. No important targets were really hit. Syria will be able to fly again in the morning...

But from now on i dont think the US can play the chemical card. Because the factory was hit.
