Funny what you said about Spanish, something I have noticed but didn't till i just read that then lol. I do like it though, also German, love that one too.

I'm a sucker for a British accent. Whether it's the classy Elizabeth Hurley style, or the rude and crass Spice Girls style. Either or just....yep.

Southern belle accent is a close second though...

I'd say Australian, but that's just a variant of British also.

On the flip side, Spanish is like nails on a chalkboard to me ( I mean, just take a break and use a damn PAUSE once in a while, it's language, not a race). Any of the gutteral languages (German, Russian, Klingon) are just about equally distasteful, sorry.

It would be a shame to be considered racist to appreciate and admire another's culture and dialect.

Is it racist to dislike someone wearing pants hanging off their ass? This is all about what we find aesthetically (or phonically) pleasing. It has no bearing on my views on a people, or their culture. And, I can dislike someone's culture, and not be racist (I believe). If others view it that way, well....that's their problem, not mine.

LMAO at the Spanish thing, I don't like the sound of it either, but chatting to my mate yesterday, he loves it...and dislikes listening to a French woman speaking English...I know, I said he was nuts.
We have foreign students and tourists from all over the world here every Summer, I hear multiple languages and accents walking through town, I like it.

...and the racism thing, I'll take the blame for that, I 'tongue in cheek' suggested that someone is likely to moan that this thread is racist.

Odd that you mention that. A French woman speaking French, does nothing for me.

A French woman speaking English, with a French accent...NOW we're talking....

Yes, same

...another one of my fave's is my Czech friend when she is speaking English. When she speaks Czech it's just noise to me, but in English, oh my, her accent and grammar imperfections melt me.
She can do a good eastern European assassin type deep voice as well, love it.

OK, yeah, I get that. My wife is about 3rd gen Ukranian. Can fake the accent well, but isn't hers. We used to have a Czech waitress though, at one of our favorite places, and those two would kiss (in that Euro greeting way) and flirt all the time....yep, that was fun.

Haha cool story

I love the different accents of my EU friends, and the differences between their fluency. I have a friend from Slovakia (friends with my Czech mate) and they argue sometimes because Slovakia girl speaks better English. Her accent is different though, not as gangster eastern European as Czech mate.
