VX agent a nerve agent.
That is the reason given for NK's latest sanctions using chemical weapons.

OK...now that we're punishing Russia and North Korea for their small chemical weapons infraction, what about Assad (Syria)? He's used Chemical weapons to kill lots of people, hasn't he?

The police use military grade nerve agents in your country for crowd control?

Tear gas is a chemical warfare agent and is banned by the Geneva Convention. I can't say about other countries, but US law also allows for biological agents. I don't doubt that police would use nerve agents if the opportunity presents itself. It wouldn't surprise me if the British used chemical agents against the Irish.

But who do you complain to? Your government will justify it, their allies will turn a blind eye, their enemies will squawk, but that's about it. The US will complain and sanction Syria, North Korea, or Russia over chemical weapons. All the while using white phosphorus or napalm against civilians in other countries. And you'll never hear the US sanction an ally over the use of chemical weapons.

I don't know a whole lot about this particular case, but if US intelligence agencies went to the UN and said the sun was shining I would walk outside and look for myself. Besides, it's not like the US and their allies haven't carried out their fair share of chemical assassinations.

They invaded Georgia when they were hosting the Olympics. So I don't think they really care about the negative publicity.

Yes, MH-17 was clearly shot down by Russian backed rebels using a BUK provided by Russia.

And yet we still have people insisting that it was a Ukrainian piloted Su-25. All because that is the narrative that was being pushed by Russia.

I wonder if there is any connection between this Ex-Russian spy, and Christopher Steele ?

The report withheld the security consultant’s name but stated he knew Skripal for some time and lived near him in Salisbury, while citing a LinkedIn account as confirmation that the consultant worked for Orbis. Steele’s Orbis was hired by Fusion GPS in 2016 to research Trump.

The use of chemical weapons is illegal under a multilateral treaty so it is incumbent on all nations to stand against their use.

I'm guessing you've never seen riot control police in action. I don't know of any country that has a problem using chemical weapons against its own undesirables, and the only nations that criticize them for it are their enemies.

You're confusing tear gas with nerve gas , they are very different.

I'm not confusing them, I'm saying chemical weapons are chemical weapons, whether they are lethal or not, they are illegal.

---------

I've thought about this for a while, and I came to a realization. It may be just a cultural thing. A lot of Americans hold to the idea that all men are created equal. It's one of the principles this nation was founded on. On a personal level, I like to compete at things. Cross country, chess, billiards, etc. In these competitiions, everyone has to follow the same rules. A grandmaster can't move his bishop like a queen simply because he's a better player, that sort of thing. So I expect the same principle to apply to the law. You shouldn't be able to get away with murder or theft because you are rich or a high ranking member of government. I know reality is different, but that's the way I believe things should be.

The British, on the other hand, have been indoctrinated for centuries in the belief that some people are better than others by virtue of being born into the right families. What may be illegal for the peasent class is OK for the Royals. The peasents don't need weapons to defend themselves, but they can have weapons to defend Queen and Country. The Government will tell you what you are allowed to say, because they are better than you. The rules for the piviledged class are different.

I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing. One thing I've learned in my years, if a system of government works for a people, then who am I to say they need to change? Things will change when the people really want change. Unlike the US Govenment, I don't feel the need to "regime change" any country, no matter how bad it may look to me. For instance, it's no secret that the criminal organization Yakuza has influence in nearly half of Japan's economy. Businesses even budget for the bribes they have to pay. But nobody is talking about regime changing Japan. If it works for them, it works for them.

---------

So I can see where we may have a difference of opinion when it comes to law and government. Maybe you look at the situation and say, "Meh, tear gas isn't so bad. It doesn't generally kill people. It's OK if the government uses it. The government knows best."

I look at the situation and say, "Tear gas is a chemical weapon. International Law prohibits its use. That is the letter of the law. It would be a crime for me to use it, it is a crime for the government to use it."

And when it comes to governments assasinating people, let the government that has never carried out an assasination cast the first stone.

And, again, I recognize that even in my own country, people that hold that black-and-white view are a diminishing minority.

Do the math.
Members on ATS who are hardcore Trumpsters are the ones defending Russia in every thread that has nothing to do with Trump. You think it's a coincidence?
Some of you Americans are dumber than crap.
Wake the # up

A supposed Russian hit, that gets spread over the world news. When was the last time the Ruskies went back on a spy swop? never, simply because their would never be another one. They are necessary because at some stage your mans cover can get blown. That's a simple fact .
