My youngest has just announced he is enlisting in the navy. He will be the first to handle any weapon. I'm not happy.

I would be proud of my son if he enlisted in the Navy.

No matter which navy it is :

Warmest respects

Lags

Ps. Funnily enough he has enlisted for the French army (no jokes about surrender monkeys please as that is an old stereotype...)

It's about damn time for this very common sense change to happen in our society. Too bad it took so many hundreds of lives lost for business people to give a damn. No, teenagers are not trustworthy with assault rifles, or any other weapons. Science has proven that young men are too emotional and impulsive well into their 20's to be responsible. I wonder why the legions of gun worshippers here haven't said a peep about this? I guess they're in mourning.

www.nytimes.com...

Most of the 20s men I know have never shot anyone or even gotten into a serious fight. Maybe I just pick my company well.

Still really think the key here is not readjusting the guidelines for firearms purchase, but giving faculty mandatory weapons and shooting drills. Anyone who operates a facility accepting responsibility for our youth should be fully prepared for any threat, its only common sense to equip them for basic self defense.

Democrats love their children and don't want to bury them. That's the truth.

Really?

Then why did FDR lower the conscription age to 18?

Let's not get into absolutes here: most people love their children no mater what their political leanings are.

Let's remember this thread isn't in the Mud Pit.

So how often do you actually shop at the sporting goods store? We have a Bass Pro about three miles away. I personally have never been there but my son's and husband have a time of two. It's not on our regular rotation of businesses we frequent. Farm Fresh would miss my business but the sporting goods store wouldn't.

Every month or so, which is 100% more than I shop at Walmart. =D (Or Dicks)

since when has paranoia and panic over minor issues that are blown out of proportion become common sense? who are corporations to try and subvert the constitution through underhanded means like this to satisfy the mob? maybe it's time local and state governments start placing tariffs on corporations that try to play politics and interfere with our system, maybe it's time for people to start challenging these corporations who violate our rights and our will so brazenly while thinking they can always get away with it because they have special privileges, they won't escape the supreme court and the people forever.

I wish Walmart would go out of business. They started the cheapness, others had to follow suit to stay afloat. I don’t even trust buying Xmas lights anymore because they all come from low standard China and there’s tons of recalls on them every year starting fires. I’ve started searching recalls now. Installed a recall app.

Nothing lasts as long as it used to.

It’s a real shame small businesses cease to exist.

Must just be for export.

I have had no prob with them.

The difference is the support of it.

No one here is claiming that they need to do anything.

How so?

You were adamant that youtube has every right to deny free speech. Why does walmart not have the right to deny someone under a certain age the ability to buy weapons?

Explain it to me... has nothing to do with support, it has everything to do with a company dictating their alleged rights to do business as they see fit.

Civil rights.

They can't change the rules.

Unless it's a cake or a different view, i guess.

It's not a State thing.

So let's make these idiots wait til their 20's to shoot up a school?

It's just an arbitrary line we as a society have drawn. Why not let an 8 year old get a drivers license? As long as he can read street signs, why not let a 6 year old? Why can't a 6 year old who received cash for Christmas drive himself to the gun store to buy himself a semi-automatic weapon? Ageism! Unfair!

Can an 8 year old see over the dash while pressing the accelerator or break pedals ?
See how inane your reasoning is ?

My daughter was 5’2” when she was 8 (same height as my 76 year old mother). But for those shorties, cars can be designed for them. Why not? Ageism!

Can't drink
Can't buy cigs
Can't rent a motel room
Can't rent a car

That's just off the top of my head and yet they are considered adults.

Quit bullying people and maybe they won't CRACK!!

18 if you have passed the hunting exam and have a valid hunting license and 18 also if you have been completely vetted (including medical exam and 6 months training) to join a shooting club.

You can find out more here : www.diplomatie.gouv.fr...

What is the big effin deal ?
So , Walmart, Dick's , and Kroger want to lose money ? The responsible 18 year old will just go to the local pawn shop, sporting goods store , or the "gun" show when it comes to town....

I’ll cry a river over the brutality of our armed forces making your poor child embrace a weapon of war, if you raised him better he would have joined the peace corps. And a message to him, one man to another. Sir thank you for your service to our people and nation, may God protect you day and night on your journey.replyreply to: Sillyolme

Pass the law for age of consent to change to 8 and maybe an 8 year old can drive to buy a gun.

All laws are arbitrary.

And ageism isnt unfair. Its illegal.
