Maybe they "swap out" energy when they insinuate themselves into our dimension. They show up here, but the energy gets funneled either into where they came from, or into an empty dimension where there are no consciousnesses around to give it mass and reality.

EDIT: Although... stuff that is moved from potential to realized energy might be why the universe continues to expand, and why it counter-intuitively might not be a "closed system."

That's what Ouija boards are for. They take potential energy and order it through suggestion (imagination), then it's funneled through the mechanism of the board to give it structure, intelligence, motivation, and expression. It's not exactly like "bait," because you're essentially creating the "fish" you're trying to catch, but the result is the same.

What if we treat them as a lab rat and run some experiments like firing high power EMP waves at them, or directed microwave radiation? See what they can take or if it alters their patterns/actions.

Let's assume that you're right & it's aliens visiting us.

The first problem is locating them in time to actually shoot or capture any of these things. Even if we had the equipment on hand in 3,000 locations, there's still no guarantee we'd be able to mobilize that equipment in time to confront these alien spacecraft.

Think about the logistics for a second. There are more than 3,000 counties in the United States. For this plan to work, we'd start with a "UFO capture team" located in each county. They'd have to be on standby 24hours a day, meaning there would need to be at least 2 separate 12hr shifts working 7 days a week (most likely there would need to be 4 shifts spread across those 7 days). There would also need to be an emergency hotline specifically for them, unless they'd be able to see all of the airspace in their county at the same time. Then they'd need to respond to the orbs/crafts fast enough to confront them.

Where would we get the money for this? And what happens if it turns out that the "UFOs" they shoot down are actually US military aircraft or some corporate prototypes for something completely legal? It's kind of the same problem as people shooting bigfoot when they see it. If it turns out that it's just a human, you're going to prison for a long time and/or facing incredibly expensive "wrongful death" lawsuits.

It's difficult to measure/interact with something there when there doesn't appear to any there there! That's the main problem....
