Sweet lord people will believe anything, and I say this as someone who genuinely believes Bigfoot is an evolutionary offshoot of bears.

NO ONE HACKED THE SAFETY ARM!
Also...
LIBERALS DIDNT ANNOUNCE THEIR INTENTIONS WITH A STUPID PIN!

first of - for everyone babling aboutt " suspicious coincidences "

you tuber search

by misfortune or incompetance - trains and objects that cannot survive impact with a train have " near misses " on a regular basis

there is no conspiracy - unless you include " idiocy " as a conspiracy to collect darwin awards

a reply to: Thorneblood

yup - this is a general staple of conspiracy " thinking "

people " discover " a badly written doom porn article about " things that can be hacked " and ignore all the caveats about the limitations of the hack and BINGO 2+2+1 = 23 - conspiracy top score

3 of us are still awaiting answers to the direct question - could the truck be hacked

and further to this - even if the crossing was hacked - how do you get the truck on the track with sub second timing ???

and lastly - the crossing system was reported malfunictioning for at least 2 days previous

and dont embarrass yourself by claiming " this was " hacker practice "

That's the truth..

But I would imagine that if it's equipped with a modern tracking system (just to make sure your employees aren't slacking)
I would imagine that it also most likely has something like a 3g/4g data transmission system. Maybe purely GPS/satellite, but in the modern day and age it would be stupid not to utilize cell towers for tracking. The faster those signals go the easier it is to adapt to real-time radar

But I diverge. The hack is possible/impossible depending on the equipment the truck had in.
If the OBDII sensor is linked to the GPS system in any way (and maybe not even a proprietary link) the possibility exists.

If the hardware is there all you need is know-how. To hack a truck and crossing gates at the right time you would need a lot of know-how. But very possible depending on the hardware.

A script where the determining variables are the distance and speed of the truck, as well as it's weight. Since you've already worked out the timing the for the crossing gate...

I'm not advocating for the crazy idea that this wasn't just a crash on a train track.
I'm just saying this is a conspiracy site and if you know something about how modern electronics work... Well it doesn't appear impossible.

When did a malfunction equal hacking?.

Gates malfunctioned, Truck Malfunctioned at the same time. What a coincidence. Winning the $300 million Power Ball would be more likely.

Coincidences happens everyday. With much bigger odds.

There's a couple thousand of collisions a year.

oli.org...

2025 collisions in 2016 with 265 fatalities.

And half have active warning devices..

Approximately half of all collisions at grade crossings occur where active warning devices are present

www.fra.dot.gov...

I didn’t know there were so many poweball winners!
