They're starting to run into problems with some of the Virginias. Nothing major, except one that they're about to send back to the yards and sticking back in dock for some major rework. Mostly it's just over ambition on schedules and starting to see some cost ballooning.

I've heard had to do with some contractors not doing what they promised, but that may be related to the schedule.

The only thing they said about the rework was that they came in early from trials, and some systems needed looking at.

Carriers for open sea warfare are obsolete and vulnerable, but carriers to support land warfare are not obsolete.

Or maybe a nice bottle of Glenfiddich 21 year old single malt scotch.

I hear it's almost the same thing.

Now you're talking but I want a sip too, you know just a small sip to make sure it's real and I'd then forget what he told me!!

I forgot about that rabbit hole... wish Bedlam would pop up. I've always wondered about Ryongchong/ryanggang and the UTTR capability.

You can get me in the same room with it, but all that will happen is that you'll get bored of me sitting there leaning on the wall not drinking any of it.

I guess you guys could drink it, but that would kind of defeat the purpose.

Hey, if Grey is paying then the hooch is the purpose!

There must be some type of liquid "kryptonite" out there that will get you talking!! It might be like trying to crack a walnut within a smaller walnut within an even smaller walnut though!!

What if you designed the airframe to deliberately disintegrate...up to a point?

Ablative Armoured Airframes could be designed which absorb the friction and intentionally detach once a specified threshold is reached for each Ablative cell / armour component?

Imagine a multi-layered, honeycomb-like structure, each hex cell able to detach and reveal a fresh, cold cell beneath the spent cell...this would add more weight granted, but for an airframe designed to be reusable, this would allow the craft to survive the extreme heat intact, and return on significantly less fuel than would be the case with fixed / solid airframes.

Just a thought.
