The government shutdown is only a smokescreen to distract from the "Release the memo" movement. There are many officials on both side that have been complicit in the blatant corruption and abuse of power that has occurred in this country over the last decade. They will stop at nothing to prevent disclosure.

Many belong in prison. Funny how McCain wasn't there last night to cast the tying vote, which failed 50 to 49. If McCain votes yes, Pence breaks the tie.
Heads are going to roll, only a matter of time.

My opinion, by the time the midterms are upon us, many of the top government officials will be under indictment.

Including Hillary, Comey, Rosenstein, McCabe, Lynch, Strozk, Ohr as well as McCain and other NeverTrump individuals and mainstream media collaboraters.

We will be in full S#&t show mode.

There is a reason they call this hope porn... because I hope that you are right.

It is getting more believable all the time.

Have you seen "the memo"? No, you haven't.

The distraction is there is any such thing.

The real world is starting a new invasion into Syria.

BTW, The gubment isn't going to quit its job either.

I would hope you are right.

But I don't hold out too much hope. Problem is the corruption runs right through the top ranks of the FBI, the CIA and the Pentagon. The memo may contain accusations but where can they go without testimony? The memo itself, by itself, isn't in and of itself, actionable without corroboration. And like the Mafia, no one's going to talk because everyone has dirt on everyone else.

We'll see though, maybe.

McCain is dealing with cancer right now. He's not a young man. I believe that's the reason he wasn't there. And the Senate needed 60 votes last night to pass the House bill.

I belive that there will be evidence found to corroborate the accusations. The things that have been out for the past couple of years, whether it be the Hillary emails, Benghazi, Uranium One, the dossier, the FISA abuses, the Clinton Lynch tarmac obstruction of justice, Comey doing the job of the justice department by exhonorating Hillary, the Mueller witch hunt and I could go on and on.

There is evidence to be seen. That's what the indictments are for. No matter what the evidence is, they are still innocent until proven guilty. Let them have to defend the theft and abuses they are accused of. Let them get dragged through the mud. See if the come out clean on the other side. If they do then so be it.

I would have agreed with you about no one talking in the past, but just look at the takedown of the Hollywood elite scumbags. Never thought that would happen in a million years. Considering that they have been protecting the likes of Woody Allen and Roman Polanski for decades.

Just my gut feeling on this.

I believe they are strategically waiting until we get closer to the midterms before they blow everything up. That way it will be fresh in the minds of the voters. So many people have finally woken up to the real world. Or so I hope!

DRAIN THE SWAMP... then impose term limits. It's the only way this will ever stop. Otherwise we will be right back in this mess again in another 10 to 15 years with the new group of career politicians.

And there it is, the truth.

Let's not forget about the corporations that are in full support of this system staying in place.

Any one who thinks Hillary is going to see the inside of a prison cell isn't paying attention.

The government shutdown is only a smokescreen to distract from the "Release the memo" movement.

There's no "movement" — nobody even knew that the Nunes "memo" was a thing until just over 48 hours ago. The memo is a product of Nunes and his staff. The Republicans on his committee apparently admitted that they hadn't even seen the classified material that is supposed to underlie the claims Nunes makes.

This shutdown isn't that hard to figure out.

- The GOP-led Congress neglected to deal with CHIP

- Instead of leading his party to guide legislation to deal with DACA, Trump simply announced he was ending it, saying it would force Congress to deal with DACA.

- The President made a big production a week and half ago, saying that if Congress put a bipartisan deal in front of him, he'd sign it.

- When Lindsey Graham and Dick Durbin went for the meeting with Trump about the bipartisan deal they'd put together with two other Republicans and two Democrats, they were greeted by Trump who already had Tom Cotton whispering in his ear. Instead of doing what he said he'd do, he threw a fit.

- This is the only chance the Democrats have to wield the necessary leverage to get the DACA fix to avoid the crisis that Trump manufactured.

- The GOP tied CHIP to the funding bill in attempt to force the Democrats to vote for it without a DACA fix.

Keep in mind, the bipartisan immigration legislation gave the admin the border security funding they asked for, it did away with the diversity lottery and it also precluded the parents of DREAMers from being eligible for family-based immigration (or as the GOP likes to call it, "chain migration").

Trump had Schumer come in for negotiations. Schumer put MORE funding for the wall on the table. Things seemed to be going good again and then a few hours later, Trump called and ended that. Why? Probably because he has hardliners like Cotton in his ear.

Trump has no credibility. The GOP is trying to have unilateral control over immigration.

They don't need 51 votes, they need 60. I think they actually have 50 with the handful of Democrats who said they'd vote for it.

And I should add that at this point, both sides are playing a game of chicken, trying to blame one another and waiting to see who the shutdown will hurt more politically.

For the short term.

In the long run, people generally don't recall. This is simply another school yard bully game tactic: you stand up, or you get repeatedly walked over.

Yeah because you ignored Nunes and the HPSIC for months on end. You do know he is not working alone right? Your desperation is showing because when the Obama administration narrative collapses then you were wrong the whole time. Did you not get enough flags for the porn star BS? Quit pretending to be bipartisan because you are clearly not. We have threads detailing Nunes and the HIC investigation bit by bit. They got stalled into oblivion by the DoJ and FBI. We have people that were demoted or outright fired and you still choose to believe in the fairy tale that the russian Dossier is true. Well too bad your and all the others wake up call is coming. Deny ignorance my ass.

Edit: Btw the hashtag blew away every trending hashtag in those 48 hours. Russian bots didn't do that. It was We The People and we will not rest. We are a movement of the likes the world has never seen. We don't care about race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or what not. We fight for humanity as a whole.

Ah, but there is. Long before the information regarding any memo, there are folks here that knew it was coming. The Qanon thread that has been floating on top of the ATS forum for quite some time now.

He wanted congress to work out a law(s)? Crazy notion.

To your statements credit, there has been plenty of claims that Schumer et al have brought fourth something in concession including a budget for the wall. The details behind what that actually entails however remain to be seen (by myself anyway).

- This is the only chance the Democrats have to wield the necessary leverage to get the DACA fix to avoid the crisis that Trump manufactured.

Leverage. Apt term to be sure. However if this is all they have, that is saying something and it is far to great a risk/reward. I mean CNN of all places have even reported that this was not a smart move. Also, there is still two months to hammer out laws for DACA.

That is one sides spin on what happened.

What stands put to me is that CHIP is part of the budget and should have been included.

DACA is policy and isnt relevant to a budget vote.

I still think a shutdown should bring a referendum on alp legislators. Maybe inspire them to work a little

My question is just how much of our money is going to be embezzled because Democrats & Republicans have feigned this gridlock, staged yet another shutdown, and are being *gosh-darned* forced to have to come to an agreement that gives both sides what they want out of the budget.

I wish they would just take what they want and dispense with the BS smokescreen and drama. They're going to take it no matter what anyway.

They're all going to make out like bandits. I believe it in my heart of hearts.

That whole deal is MSM staged diversion. "Dont look there, look over here".

Unless there are indictments, which I seriously doubt because of corruption at the Justice Department, even if there is some evidence, the MSM will bury it and/or discredit it.
