But not so different. One is a fictional character from the future who wanted to be real, and the other is a real character from now who wanted to be a fictional character from the future.

So OP, any clues about 2038? Can we use enough pentiums to create a time vortex around 2038 and skip from 2037 to 2039 so as to evade the linux date flop?

It sounds ridiculous, but here are some things that are apparently true:

1. I had never heard of narwhals until about 2 years ago. I still can't believe that they are real. No one I know has ever seen one. Same goes for fanged deer, flying foxes, rainbow trees. What's going on here?

2. L.Ron Hubbard had a look-alike with a similar name (possibly a relative) who died on the Lusitania.

3. The Rockefeller family waited almost 40 years to take revenge on W.R. Hearst by backing the failed epic movie Citizen Kane.

4. Last year they announced the wrong winners for Miss Universe and the Oscars Best Movie, Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize for Literature, and Donald Trump was elected President of the United States.

5. Physicists have decided that the universe is a holographic projection of a complex 8th-dimensional crystal. Not all physicists. Some believe that 90% of the universe inexplicably doesn't exist.

6. On the far right wing of American life, apocalyptic millennialists and "Alt-Right" activists together believe that the End of the World is just around the corner, overdue, and very exciting.

Mind you, all of this comes up after Vonnegut would be able to enjoy it.

Best Western for me is The Shootist, but not sure whether Brennan beats Newman for the part of Roy Bean.
