what was the purpose for which the universe was created?

does your religion have a answer to this question?
does the answer have an explanation?
does the explanation make any sense?
does the explanation rely on assumptions that are not themselves justified?
doesnt it strike you as odd that the answer was provided by later theologians instead of the founding prophet?

i would be greatful if people could answer these questions as accurate to their own beliefs as possible.

thanks.

Well, this seems like a good place to point some things out about myself. First off, contrary to popular belief, I am not an athiest. However, I would consider myself to be agnostic.

The answers to the question you asked are very difficult. I do not know how the universe was created. So in turn I don't know why. That question though, is alone why I think the way I do. It is why I am who I am. It is amazing that we have come so far with the sciences, only to be stopped by ideas that stand alone and incomprehensible. Singularities, spacetime, infinity. These concepts are where we have to stop. Our minds simply cannot comprehend things that lie outside of the physics that we know. Religious people criticise the sciences. They never really sit back and think about things though. Why do you think you believe in a god? You believe in one because science has yet to answer everything, and likely will never do so. It is science itself that brings you god. You should embrace it rather than discard it.

It disturbs me when certain areas of science are attacked. I am by no means a professor in physics, but I know a lot about it. I have seen not only the conclusions of equasions and the equasions themselves, but have been fortunate enough to learn where these things come from. I have done this with many scientific principals that ignorant christians attack. Unfortunatly it is not feasable to try and teach a christian about science and where it comes from. First off, this forum isn't structured in a way to make it condusive, and second, they wouldn't bother anyway.

Religion itself though, is the answer to those questions. People fear the unknown, so they make religion fill in the gaps. That is why its so easy for them to discard science. They are not actually searching for truth, but rather blocking out the fact that they don't know it with religion.

God created the Universe for the earth to be put in. In Genesis you see that the first thing created was the Heavens and the earth.
In Isaiah

Isa 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

and about the earth He says

Isa 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

does your religion have a answer to this question?

Yes. It is above

does the answer have an explanation?

The answer is self explanitory

does the explanation make any sense?

see above

does the explanation rely on assumptions that are not themselves justified?

n/a

doesnt it strike you as odd that the answer was provided by later theologians instead of the founding prophet?

n/a

i would be greatful if people could answer these questions as accurate to their own beliefs as possible.

Done. Straight from the bible with no added explanations

thanks.

Your welcome

People do not creat religion because of the fear of the unknown. those who worship statues do that.

god has revealed to the prophets who he is, and what we are here for, and this has gone on through the entire time we have been here and he has shown us amazing miracles
to go along with his words. even after christ who worked mirales and preached the truth and who was prophecied by the Old Testament prophets to come to earth, the church has grown for
2,000 years, with un presidented amounts of miracles that have flourished throughout the entire church.

Nobody creates anything. Its called revelation, and by this comes faith, and by that comes miracles.

peace.

My religion is logic and reason, but I will ditch it in an instant if better logic and reason come along.

"what was the purpose for which the universe was created?"

The universe exists because it was brought into existence. It was created because it was 'born' (if you will).

"does your religion have a answer to this question?"

See above. I do have a more grandious answer to that, but I never say it as I can not prove it through logic. It is merely speculation as far as anyone is concerned.

"does the answer have an explanation?"

Are these all basically the same question?

"does the explanation make any sense?"

Of course, but it needs to be realized that different people define words in different ways.

"does the explanation rely on assumptions that are not themselves justified?"

No, but then again how can I justify the existence of an atom to someone that does not know what one is?

"doesnt it strike you as odd that the answer was provided by later theologians instead of the founding prophet?"

What is a prophet? Someone that simply has a realization? Couldn't this apply to just about anyone that ever had an idea that changed others?

ok so your god created the universe
what was the point of this creation assuming that what im about to say is true.

free will doesnft actually exist in reality but only in the sense that flowers dont exist in reality either.
the end of time was determined in the first instant of the creation, in that first instant, you reading this post was determined.
just say you punch me in the nose. did you do it because you are evil or because the laws of physics made you do it? if the laws of physics had been any different, you may not have punched me.

Moral responsibility - the idea that choosing evil causes you to deserve pain - god even plays by this, if your bad, god will spank you... punish you, its throughout the bible. but if we dont have free will... you could say *had no choice*, then why would god punish anyone?
and if god knew what was going to happen from the start? if he knew that adam was going to eat the apple... etc, if he knew the whole corse of human history and is a being which time has no baring on, really? whats the point? couldnt he of just created our souls and put them into heaven so we didnt have to go through pain?

assuming that the above statements are true and free-will/morality do not exsist in this universe. (remember i said assuming)

What was the 'point' of us being created? (us as in the human race)

That would be true if we were only made of atoms which have been created with the Big Bang. But there is the other part of us, our soul, the divine part of humans, which is added into our bodies. Our bodies are bound by laws of universe, but the free will comes from the divine part and can influence the Grand Design of universe, defy laws.

If we keep that part connected with the Divine, if we are aware of the gift we possess, we have a greater chance of using its power.

God is not in the order of universe, the order was created with the creation of universe. God is in chaos.

God is an observer. He sees everything, but he does not influence it directly. We are the ones making choices.

What is the point of all that?
Well, the point of existence is the existence itself. The awareness of everything, of the grand design, universe, god, afterlife and the path of learning.

thats if our conscience isnt concieved within our brain and on some other plain, some may say outside space/time.
i believe our brain is concieved within space time, concieved within our brain, our head, and thus the reason why our brain appears to be so complex, and not forgetting big.(big as in brain:body ratio)

so your saying that our bodies are bound by the 'laws' of the universe? but yet we can defy these laws because of free-will? therefore how could there be a law in the first place. a law if a law is truely a law - it shouldnt be able to be defied.
