"depends on what the meaning of "is" is"
-Bill Clinton, cryptically spoken in defense of himself during the Lewinsky scandal

Democrat - a person who advocates for democracy and a democratic party government

crat - combining form meaning “ruler,” “member of a ruling body,” “advocate of a particular form of rule,”
source: www.dictionary.com...

autocrat, bureaucrat, technocrat, aristocrat..the list could go on. My point is, is there anything *good* that ends with "crat"? By definition, it means to rule. There is only one party in this country that is interested in "ruling" or being a "ruler."

At its core, this is what an anything-crat is. Of course for Democrats, with their advocacy for invasive government controlled by the mob, this all sounds perfectly rational. I prefer individual freedom, personal liberty and self determination myself.

We seem to live within our own very very special lives and experiences. I could even shock some of you with my experiences, but I won't. I will just say that hearing is believing.

So a quote from 1995-96...literally over 20 years old, inspires a thread for you to say this?

If you need fresh ideas for fresh threads, you should check for current events. There's loads of interesting things out there. Or are you just trying to keep the has-been Clintons in current events?

Why? Can't freedom be created from roots? Too many questions, too many solutions.

So everything that is bad in this country is because of Democrats, got it. You prefer freedom so the CEOs can get rid of all EPA laws, child labor laws, get everyone living in poverty. Here's what freedom gets you:

At some point people will stop voting for rich co#*($# suckers. Maybe you like the freedom the owners of this country have in shoving the red, white, and blue shaft up your butt. But until people get past the "government is the problem" propaganda the American dream will continue to be just a dream because you have to be asleep to believe it. Government is the answer. You and I cannot fight the corporations and the owners of this country without government.

So, back to what the meaning is of 'is' is', it may not be what it is, it is.

dont believe that BS. empowering each person is how u defeat the big corporations. we are the ones who they derive their power from and if each person makes the choice they can deprive them of that power. its quite simple, just stop buying the shiniest newest toys. grow a garden. learn to sew and make some clothes, they will fit u better then anything youve ever bought from a corporation. each person has a hell of a lot of power to affect a massive amount of change and this bs that we need someone else to hold our hand and do it for us is just that BS

If the age of something matters so much, why are you referencing an author who has been dead for 54 years? An author that dead inspires a signature for you? That's well over twice as old as the Clinton quote...that must make it well over twice as irrelevant, right?

If you need fresh ideas for fresh signatures, you should check for current events. There's loads of interesting things out there.

Sorry, I couldn't avoid posting as irrelevant a comment as you did in order to point out the subtle hypocrisy.

Touche'

However Huxley was writing about his conception of the future...the very one we are living in now; one where the populace is sated by entertainment and excess. I find his comment on the future very apropos for the times in which we live.

Clinton is irrelevant...both of them are. Clinging to the political past to comment on someone who is no longer relevant... Well, I guess you're right, it's very apropos to the mud-pit in which partisan politics plays a role by saying "but look what so-and-so did 25 years ago and got away with it."

I concede. You are much greater than am I.

The first step to understanding what is... is, is to understand that is is a "to be" state of being. It has to be CURRENTLY in said state to be an "is." Like he said, "All depends on what is IS."

People criticized him for this because they didn't have the understanding to know what he was saying. Same happened with Bush's "I am the decider" statement. Yes, decider is very much an actual word.

so because a small % of people are halfwits the majority have to pay the price? id suggest not paying attention to those videos which btw i could make a list miles long if i wanted to from both parties cause idiocy doesnt know party lines. what they do exhibit is what happens when u stop trying to empower people. educate and empower people and those idiots cease to exist or atleast move up a rung or two on the ladder. btw this is one thing that always irks me, if thats really how you feel about humanity, then how do u know that u arent one of the halfwits? ponder it for abit. i hope u dont take that as an insult, cause i in no way mean to insult u or am implying you are a halfwit, its the philosophical quandary that intrigues me. there is also the other glaring problem if u have such little faith in people. govt is run by people and since the people are flawed whatever they take part in will be flawed aswell. whether thats in the private sector or govt.
