Am I reading this thread correctly...?
An oppressive regime in North Korea of the worst kind is trying to get Nuclear weapons and threatening the world with using them. The North Korean govt is already imprisoning it's people even on suspcision of disent and rounding up families. Children are born in prison. Families are watching executions of their loved ones. They are already forced to east rodents and grass in these prisons.

Just one example from a defector from North Korea:

I saw terrible things in Pyongyang,” she said, noting that 11 musicians were killed in front of her after being accused of making a porn video. “We were ordered to leave our classes by security men and made to travel to the Military Academy in Pyongyang. There is a sports ground there, a kind of stadium.”
It was there that she said the musicians were tied up, hooded and brought out before 10,000 people who had been assembled to watch. Then, the individuals were abused and killed right in front of her.
“What I saw that day made me sick in my stomach. They were lashed to the end of anti-aircraft guns,” she said. “A gun was fired, the noise was deafening, absolutely terrifying and the guns were fired one after the other. The musicians just disappeared each time the guns were fired into them. Their bodies were blown to bits, totally destroyed, blood and bits flying everywhere.”
Lim continued, “And then after that military tanks moved in and they ran over the bits on the ground where the remains lay.”

...and America are the bad guys for pushing sanctions?????

You've lost your mind OP.

Yes, but if we get in a war with them, our bombs will lovingly and peacefully put them to sleep and only target the bad North Koreans while not harming anyone else.

If they do not, president Trump will resort to a left jab to stun their militany, then quickly roll into a right handed Haymarket, for the knock out.

In the meantime while he is flailing his big hands thousands of people in South Korea and possibly Japan will be dying , North Korea is well armed and ready to go with missile batteries pointing at their targets.

There is no method in his madness just madness.

the one likely to be dropping bombs is the US... nukes or otherwise. history and current events can categorically attest to that, and math and probability.

They've got nuclear weapons, nothing to try about.

I can't recall them threatening the world. It's one nation with a handful of nuclear weapons, hardly enough to threaten the world with... It's like me saying I'm going to knock out every Australian in the world, a preposterous proposition.

America have done nothing but sanction North Korea, the world follows suit... I know for a fine fact some nations help North Korea behind the scenes.

North Korea hate the US, the people hate the US (love the culture though) the US have gave them no reason to express any other emotion towards them.

Sanctions hit the populous, not the regime. They will still export the likes of guns, drugs and counterfeit money. They will still aim to improve their nuclear capabilities.

Sanctions just make them more hostile, sanctions make them hate us more, sanctions will shorten the time between now and inevitable war.

America are the bad guys?

Nobody is the good guy in this situation, nobody is changing the record and the music?

It's s###e

then what's the fix Ray? Leave Kimmy alone and just hope he doesn't get bored with his nukes? I'd like to hear what your solution to this is.

Their "Dear Leader" could scale back on the threats, drug smuggling and maybe scale back on the lavish lifestyle and perhaps the NK people wouldn't have to starve?

Just a thought...

This is the situation that almost every country in the world faces in my view. If you oppose the United States in a serious manner, you'll be crushed in one way or another unless you're a superpower.

More North Koreans than ever are going to starve to death so that their country can survive as a sovereign entity. Their choice is either accepting U.S. hegemony or limping along as a starving, hopelessly impoverished nation.

Putin said North Koreans would eat grass rather than give up their nuclear ambitions. It looks like that theory is about to be tested.

The scary thing to me is that all of this makes North Korea the equivalent of a cornered, wounded animal.

"We define this 'sanctions resolution' rigged up by the U.S. and its followers as a grave infringement upon the sovereignty of our Republic, as an act of war violating peace and stability in the Korean peninsula and the region and categorically reject the 'resolution,'" it said.

"There is no more fatal blunder than the miscalculation that the U.S. and its followers could check by already worn-out 'sanctions' the victorious advance of our people who have brilliantly accomplished the great historic cause of completing the state nuclear force," the ministry said.

Other aspects of the sanctions include all North Korean nationals working abroad having to return to the country within 24 months, and a ban on North Korean exports of goods such as machinery.
www.newsweek.com...
North Koreans wouldn't have to eat grass or be starving like they have been for decades under a psychotic dynastic regime who spends all its money on the elite, army and weapons development etc. Surely their priority should be the feeding of the people. This regime is brutal and the worst state imposed brain washing control of a nations people on the planet.

The level of irresponsibility and threats from its leadership are unbelievable and warrant nothing less than being defined as being a sick of mind regime.

NK will not be permitted to further develop its nuclear capability that you can be assured of and if they don't agree to enter talks to resolve the situation peacefully they will be dealt with by China and the US in the next 12 months! This is not a speculation but an imperative to ensure that the Korean Peninsula doesn't become a nuclear catastrophe for this planet.

Maybe you werre not aware of this but the US military sea rations that are expired are funneled to North Korea and have been for many years, so no, the nk military IS NOT STARVING.

Can you elaborate on the differences between a "threat" and a "warning"?

what i dont understand about sanctions is how does that stop them from growing enough food to feed people ?
they ahve land that can be grown on it is not desert the have summer just like every ware .
So tech aside tractors aside what is stopping people from just using manual labor to grow enough to feed every one ?
I get it would be harder But humans farmed without machinery for 1000s of years so why is t we seam to have lost that ?
Personally I just dont see how a all out effort by every one in the country would not produce enough food .

I'm assuming that the only legal porn in NK is the great and holy leader...Hell it could always get worse. They could say that anyone with penis longer than dear leader is impure and needs to have his D removed.

Kim was caught with some bondage pornography while going to school in the US. We should have strapped him to a triple A gun

Think I'd be wasting my time on ATS if I had a solution and the political strength to back it up?

I'll play though.

We have no "fix" Intrptr's point about an abused child rings true with North Korea, you can't just "fix" it, the fix is different from different angles, the US doesn't want an armed Korea, Korea wants defence.

So the "fix" is wholly a perspective thing.

In an ideal world we'd open up dialogue with them, you cannot have a one sided affair in terms of diplomacy. Trump has screwed up any chance of dialogue though... They need assurance that no harm will come to them if they give up their nuclear ambitions, nobody can deliver that.

The Chinese and Russians are weary of the US and for good reason, they cannot guarantee the US will never attack, they cannot guarantee the sovereignty of North Korea. All they can do is speak hypothetically and make accords to such situations, in that aspect nothing has changed with Korea. Nothing at all.

The only one with emphasis on time is the US, it's well worth noting. Considering North Korea has been starving a while now.

...

I can't just answer your question, know what I mean?

It's a sovereign nation, treat them as such. We need to be humane about this, I can't say if we gave aid it wouldn't be funnelled to weapons R&D because it could, we can't get through to the citizens either...

You want an answer?

Ask yourself what you'd do with a troubled teenager.

You can't just kill him/her, their destructive ways bode nobody well but you can't just confront them either. They're basically an adult that's in physical peak, they have rights too.

Dialogue matey, something that's hardly been tried with the North.

If they turn out to be wrong un's despite our efforts # em.

The US cannot lead any dialogue though, hell no. They shouldn't even have a say. It's a conflict of interest.

Some of these people have a twisted world view almost as sick and misguided as Lil Kim’s.

One of them said in another thread that their solution to the NK issue would be to lift all sanctions and let them have their nuclear program! WTF?????

Those people have a worldview that is entirely driven by the what Trump says - they take the opposite view. He basically lives in their their minds. If he came up with a cure for cancer, they'd be talking about how he is going to cause starvation from overpopulation. They're crazies. The root cause is they lost an election. Still that simple.

What I would want is a Rebel faction of NK's population to take hold and start fighting back.

Also, if the military could launch a coupe to kill Kim Jong.....still may be a problem militarily depending on who steps in to lead.

Interesting times.

I think most do - it's just some lunatic fringe who want to appease them because they are enemies of Trump and say some things about him that the lunatics engage with. Kim Jong Un has become somewhat of a hero to them.
