It's a cold snowy Friday evening here in Arctic Britain and I've had a tough day on the roads of Englandshire so what better to warm the cockles
than a storming performance by the one and only Thin Lizzy filmed on the 1983 Thunder and Lightning tour.
Join me and raise a glass to Phil Lynott and the boys.
One of our Swan songs. To us it meant busting out of school early on Fridays, headin for the hills. To hell with school, parents and the after school
job doldrums...
While I didn’t get to see this tour (was stationed on Okinawa 82-85) I did see their Jailbreak tour...in fact, that was my first live concert. I
do, however, listen to the Thunder and Lightning studio album almost weekly. It’s even downloaded on my watch for easy, non-bufferred, listening.
The Sun Goes Down and The Holy War are pure poetry...
We need to sit down for a pint! We have the same taste in music, probably the same love for pizza... lol. Space, weirdness, etc.
The Holy War is one of my favs! The whole album kicks. Nowadays, I hit shuffle on my iPod and let randomness decide. Slow, fast, that triplet over 4/4
is so signature.
My absolute favorite band!!
My only regret, if you can call it that - since it wasn't my choise, is that I never got to see them Live (I was born in the autumn as Lizzy was doing
the final shows). But having an Irishman as neighbor ment I was spoon fed Thin Lizzy growing up (many years later he also gave me my taste for a pint
o' Guinness at the end of the day too).
Phil was a brilliant lyricist/songwriter, who was taken away to early.
I'm so happy for YouTube and people with connections who keeps uploading unreleased material keeping Phil's flame burning and his/Lizzy's music alive
for more to find and enjoy/love.
