HOUSTON - Houston police and Harris County deputies are responding to reports of a shooting at Memorial City Mall Saturday evening.
The incident was reported around 7 p.m.

UPDATE: ACTIVE SHOOTER SITUATION STILL ONGOING. police telling everyone in the area to stay hidden for the time being. Mall on complete lockdown. RUN HIDE FIGHT. Stay safe everyone. Will update soon. EDIT 20:48- confirmed reports of several gunshots from bystanders outside the mall.

A possible active shooter at Memorial City Mall sparked an evacuation Saturday night, though police quickly determined there was "no evidence" of a shooting.
Reports of active shooter at Memorial City Mall have been confirmed to be false. Situation is stable and under control by @houstonpolice incident was actually a smash and grab at a jewelry store. No shooting or injuries have occurred. Tweet from houstonpolice
