I think its about Henry II (The French One). The prophecies were all written in the late 1540's, and really reflected his time.
Henry II was a notorious suppressor of The Protestant Church. He died in 1559. There was a famine in the early 1550s and a great comet 1556. Pretty
tumultuous decade.
By the time of Charles IX via Francis II all hell and civil holy war had broken out between protestants and Catholics.
And when writing condemnations of Catholic thugs in the days of inquisition torture it had to be done veiled through a bunch a crystal bowl "I'm a
mystic" bulls#.
You can line it up with several instances throughout France's history alone.
