Anyone remember a few years ago when Boston Dynamics released footage of their Atlas robot navigating some simple terrain like steps, slopes, etc.

It made the rounds on ATS for a while. I remember thinking that it looked heavy and clunky and did not move very fluidly.

After watching their newest video, I must say I have totally changed my opinion on the Atlas.

www.blacklistednews.com...

If they have made progress like this in just a few years, imagine what this thing will be like in 10, 20 years.

Here is a link to the youtube video.

I'm sure it can be programmed to do that already. You know some bored programmer has done it already.

I prefer to get my own beers, unless they can also program it to say, "Honey, I'm just drinking one, no need for the stinkeye."

Think they could program it to take my wife's nagging when I don't clean out the garage? Then DARPA would be onto something!!

on second thought nothing can withstand her nagging.

A robot that can look and talk like a person and perform physical feats like an Olympic gymnast.

Now that thought, really disturbs me for some reason.

Each muscle consists of a sealed bag filled with air or fluid, containing a folding origami structure that functions as the skeleton. When the pressure inside the bag is reduced using an electric pump, the whole structure collapses and contracts, just like the muscles in your arm or leg. It may not sound like a recipe for strength, but these artificial muscles are much stronger than their human counterparts, capable of lifting 1,000 times their own weight.

www.theverge.com...

And now they have real muscles that are way stronger than a humans........
