Ok.. so I came across this news article

And the only reason I'm really responding is because I live very close to the PDX airport and remember that day.. almost to the hour...right around 5-pm.. and the jets at the Oregon Air National Guard Base (142nd) were taking off like something big had happened.. not just the usual 2 sets x 3 or 4... but like perhaps a dozen in rapid succession one right after the other.. normally I wouldn't even blink over the take-offs, but the fact that after about 15mins. or so they were screaming to North, after taking off to the East and pitching Southwest.. strange that I've never seen those jets fly North before.. Anyways.. so here's the article..
