Sexual assault has a legal definition. This doesn't even come close to meeting it. We cheapen it by calling every little thing sexual assault. It's inappropriate for sure. Is it against some law? He was drunk all the time in the movie "Trading Places". No excuse for his behavior though. Stopping Senator Franken from voting for the rest of the year is a good start for punishment. (Will make it easier for the Senate to pass Tax-Cuts) ;-)

I'm torn on this.

On one hand, I think it is despicable that women will come out of the blue, 20 years after the fact, and with a hazy memory make a public accusation against a public male figure. To which everyone immediately attacks because it must be true.

On the other hand, this situation was created and propagated for political gain by people exactly like Al Franken.

I think he should resign immediately. Not because I believe the woman. I actually don't. But because of his own words on the matter, that he holds himself in a higher plane of existence because he "respects women".

If anyone deserves to be guilty until proven innocent, it is this douche.

To be perfectly honest, I seriously doubt they are hazy memories for most victims of abuse, especially in a case where it's a one off attack like this. It's victims of continual abuse that things tend to blend together in a horrible traumatic memory. People remember the specifics of those one off attacks on their person. I know people who can still vividly remember traumatic things that happened to them.
