‘Magnum, P.I.’ Actor, Dies- Higgins-John Hillerman dead at 84

I remember the catch phrase "Oh My God Magnum" from Higgins on the TV show Magnum PI as a youngin.

John Hillerman has passes. He of course played John Higgins on Magnum PI and he also did a lot of other projects, like Blazing saddles. Rest in Peace.

John Hillerman, who played the caretaker on 1980s detective show “Magnum, P.I.” and appeared in several landmark 1970s films, died Thursday in Houston. He was 84.

Hillerman was nominated for four Emmys for his role as Jonathan Quayle Higgins III on “Magnum, P.I.,” and won for supporting actor in 1987. He won a Golden Globe in 1982.

I'll always remember magnum p.i as the reason we got Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones.

ETA: that series lasted 8 seasons? I may start to give some credence to this Mandela effect thing

I read somewhere that season 7 ended with Magnum being killed and there was such a backlash against NBC (I think) that they put together another 1/2 season to close the series up in a more palatable way.

Oh come to think of it I think he had a bit of a cosmopolitan Texas accent even in character.

Yes, but that would be okay anyway, if you are an Englishman living the US for a while....Sort of Errol Flynnish. I liked that show, something real about it that's hard to explain in a sound byte...and he was/is a good actor. R.I.P. John Hillerman.

BTW smurfy.......Errol Flynn Was AUSTRALIAN!!!......born and bred, in Tasmania.

See, we turn up everywhere....now you know why he was such a Swashbuckler and stirred up Hollywood.

Yes, I understand that, but it was the accent I meant more than anything else, and Flynn was partially educated in a private school/ college in England, and made quite a few films there too, also educated in Belfast, Royal academy..accent would have been well worked on et al.
But, I do also have a little tidbit there, I live in County Down, and just across from where I live, a field or two away is an old country house on a small estate, and Flynn is said to have spent some time there.

I remember seeing him in "Chinatown"... without the "lads", or the British accent. He was a fantastic character actor. He will be missed.

Awwwwww Higgins! Damn, used to watch Magnum with my grandma as a kid, love all of them, magnum, higgins, T.C., Rick,........great show! RIP Sir, thank you for the fond memories!

I still think Higgins was Robin Masters.

Blazing Saddles, one of my favorites. He was Howard Johnson, one of many, many Johnsonsons of Rockridge, who had buildt his ice cream parlor with his own two hands. One flavor.
