Remember shortly after Trump took office, and he went on his "jobs tour"? The one where he saved those 800 Carrier plant jobs by having Pence give them a whole bunch of taxpayer money and tax breaks for the next decade?

www.slate.com...

Looks like another 200 of those people are being laid off on the day before Christmas. That brings the total count to 660 of the 800 jobs that original plan was supposed to save are now gone.

A true legacy for the great dealmaker.

I seem to remember Trump talking about bringing back American factories away from China. I did not hear any announcements about addressing Chinese currency manipulation. Oh well, another great Christmas with cheap Chinese garbage.

So he is being attacked over 200 jobs? Did he personally fire those 200?

You ought to do a separate thread on this....

He made a BIG deal over it and played it up to impress his people. Now we see it as next to nothing. That is what he is being called on, his insistence on how great he is when in reality it is all show and bluster.

OMG!!!!! So you mean that the POTUS is a Politician? How could this be? This MUST be a First!!!

I really wish you lefty and righties would reroute your determination to expose the politics, corruption and lies of the OTHER party to within your OWN party.

YOU KNOW THE PARTY WHERE YOU CAN ACTUALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Show Me that Contract....

the Trump Carrier deal was just a tide over Band-Aid remedy to put off the day of reckoning

You can only hold Trump morally or legally liable under the Contract Law rules... a silly photo-op roundtable of bobble-head Executives does not count as a contract agreement

One: Politicians say a lot of bullsh*t on the campaign trail, many times they are things out of their control (like promising saving jobs in an industry and company that he has zero control over).

Two: Get pissy at Carrier, not the president. Unless you were asleep at the wheel when he said those claims (and I don't think that you were), you should have known then that his claims were out of his control.

It's political pandering, and it's an unfortunate side effect of BS politicians. But at the same time, this thread is divisive garbage trying to induce anger at Trump.

The layoffs are not his fault, regardless of what his empty claims during the campaign were.

What screams "Happy Naming Day, JesusTheChris†™" more than chopping down a perfectly LIVING tree and then decorating it with trinkets and baubles, and then elbowing Your neighbor to make sure You GET a bunch of imported crap the receiver doesn't need, usually doesn't want and would much rather have 'cash equivalent' so they won't have to stand in line to exchange on Dec. 26th for a gift certificate...

Actually, he gave the company in question $7 million in taxpayer money per year (so $70 million in total) in order to keep those jobs for 10 years. Since each job paid about $25k, it meant the government was paying $7 million per year to keep $5 million in jobs in the country while the company could pocket the rest just for participating. The company decided it wasn't worth it, less than a year later despite the subsidized payroll.

If they weren't under his control, then he shouldn't have taken credit. Since he did take credit though I have no problem with giving him the blame when it all unravels.

If I am remembering right, there was a rather large bribe to get those 200 jobs remaining in the state. I hope that Carrier now has to give that money back, but for some reason I doubt it.
corporate welfare at it's finest!!!

Another grasp from the left to get reactions from the right. I truly hate politics weather right or left or what ever. But (and i really don't care what people think) it's 200 jobs. There are bigger issues than 200 jobs. It sucks that they are getting laid off, however the money that was given to them helped to keep jobs for another year. But we can't look at it that way... No cause we don't agree with everything he does. And it goes both ways, if it were a leftist all the rightys would be doing the same thing. The division is the problem in this country...

But the taxpayers still have to give up $7M of revenue for Carrier. Help pay for that move, all tax deductible. Trump, the great deal maker.
