Not to mention the fact that ISIS is said to be in firm control of portions of Libya; and they could easily take over Somalia, no one else wants it..........and then.........there's Yemen!

Lots of opportunities for chaos, murder and mayhem!

Those are all whose fault? Trump did invade Libya and topple Quadafi. What a noob, doing that without a successor plan in place what was he thinking. Trump's an idiot.

They pulled all important leaders out of Raqqa months ago. The city holds no real importance to them. It's worth noting nobody seemed very eager to stop their leaders from leaving the city when they had the chance. Hmm...

The editorial is right though. A military victory over Islamic State in Syria and Iraq is imminent.

The Islamic State lost their new capital Mayadin to the Syrian Army a few days ago.

What will probably happen is the Islamic State will make their last stand at the city of Al-Qa'im on the Syrian-Iraqi border. It's been a stronghold for Islamists for over a decade. The Americans never managed to take this city during their 9 year occupation of Iraq. That'll be a tough fight for the Syrian and Iraqi forces.

Pretty Convenient that they all slip away or even better are allowed back into the West after being an ISIS Jihadi. Decapitate ISIS when you get the chance. I wouldn't allow any Fighter of ISIS out of there alive.

Trump had nothing to do with the end of ISIS--Thank Russia, the Kurds, the Syrian Army and the Iraqis.

If anything the US is a sinister player

Wasn't Trump who stopped Obama's support to the wrong side?

Still a few more years to go. HTS in Idlib still has to be eradicated.

There back ...."TV report: Islamic State chiefs gather near Israel border, set up training camp "

Several senior commanders from Islamic State who recently fled from Iraq and northern Syria are now based in southern Syria, just across the Golan Heights border with Israel, and are training hundreds of new recruits there, an Israeli television report said.

I imagine Islamic State gets orders to try somewhere with a little less Russian influence, Putin could have vetoed the bombing of Libya back when we westerners supported them and that is a wonderful democracy now, sorry mess we're trying to ignore with every fibre while people who were urged to join ISIL come home.
Whoever the North Korean leader is today, is always reliable to threaten global destruction despite not actually having tested a nuclear weapon, trump supporters are easily scared beasts who whoop, holler and salute every time the current president shakes his fist which, in turn is used by the current leader of the DPRK to tool up and the circle continues.
So my money goes on two fat guys with bad hair calling each other out after heavy drinking sessions, heck Call of Duty is out in November, a negative KDR in one game will probably lead to an outburst from Kim.

Yes there will be another terrorist attack somewhere at some point, yes there will be outrage, the likes of trump will urge you to hate on the entire religion of Islam rather than look at the only country on the planet that follows Wahhabi and funds IS but, like the mass shootings in America, we can't blame the cause.

Circle of life...

Yes.....trying to be humorous. People seem to forget what a great guy with foreign policy our Nobel Prize winning President was. Almost lost fricken Egypt. But let's gloss over that HUGE strategic blunder.

And don't forget, the Syrian people already approved a new Constitution in a 2012 referendum. And then in 2014, they elected Assad in Syria's first contested democratic Presidential elections.

Any on the left willing to give Trump some credit?

1. Did the right wing give Obama credit for Bin Laden? I seem to recall people on the right saying he didn't deserve the credit and that it was the actual soldiers who did it who deserved the credit. Faulty memory or nah?

2. Let's see if the results stick before doing a victory lap, ok? Don't want this to be another screw-up like Dubya's "Mission Accomplished" photo-op.

I'd agree on the 'now what'. A BBC story on who to credit?

Let's put it this way, do you think this would have occurred this quickly under Hillary or Obama or at all?

If that doesn't give pause then if your not 'left', your 'right establishment'.

Gee, you sound like an Iranian supporter. No one forgives or forgets the Saudis whatsoever. They fall into the pecking order lower than ISIS, that's all. They also have no use for Iran, which aligns with the U.S,. Seeing, for the moment, Saudi Arabia is also 'temporarily' working with Israel, we are 'temporarily' leaving things be.

So what's next? Let's see who stupidly sticks their head up and volunteers with some dumb move....hopefully, Iran.

.

I agree. Obama should have never tried to topple Assad. Is that what you meant?

I'll give props for killing Osama. Did Obama change policy drastically from Bush's hunting of Bin Laden? It was patience and luck that allowed us to kill Bin Laden, not some new strategic directive.

I don't claim this is Mission Accomplished but it surely is step one, eliminating IS as a quasi nation. Obama couldn't do that and he had much more time to take out the JV team.

My God, you act like that defeating ISIS as a nation State is not a good thing.

This will give and idea of the sh.t to come. The first public interview given by the leader of MI5 in 35 years. He obviously knows that the plots are coming faster than they can prevent them!
