Anyone Star Gazing Early This Morning ?

I've been watching the sky for a very long time, and I know stars twinkle
sometimes I've also seen some with multi color flashing lights.
This morning around 4:45 am I was outside doing my morning stretches
when I notice all the stars in the sky was blinking/twinkling funny, look like someone
up there was playing with the light switch, Orion's belt the stars was blinking
weird.
I know this may sound crazy, but I had this strange feelings like something was
not right, it almost seems like they were communicating with each other,in
all of my years star gazing I have never seen anything like that.
I wanted to know if anyone else was watching the sky this morning and if
they notice the stars acting strange.

I was actually up at 5:30 and it was colder then heck! And yeah the stars were really twinkling! I love it when they do that! Usually it is on very crisp clear mornings.

I have never seen all of them twinkling like that before.

Where are you located? If in the UK, we've been having weird weather due to the hurricane Ophelia. While Ireland was battered by the hurricane, people across the UK witnessed yellow sky, followed by a cold and windy weather.

In any case, strong twinkling of stars is caused by strong air currents in the atmosphere.

Yes, I'll go along with that - some atmospheric thing (my knowledge is sparse so welcome corrrction).

Certainly, yesterday, down here in London, the sky was overcast in a deep yellow/grey colour which someone told me was dust and ash from the Sahara (ash???) caused by the hurricane winds.

Its actually desert dust, mixed with ash and smoke from fires in Portugal and Spain.

The material was pulled across as the hurricane tracked from North Africa.

I was out earlier before the sun came up and I saw a sliver crescent moon over shining venus.
It was like a pretty necklace in the sky.

Thank you! I was going to ask if anyone else enjoyed the crescent moon and Venus just below it. Looked amazing!

Where do you live? I haven't looked recently because Orion is a winter constellation in the northern hemisphere. I haven't seen Orion yet but like I said I haven't looked because I don't expect to be able to see it this early. Will look tonight. I was pretty sure it didn't show till next month but it's past mid October so ...

They do when the sky is very clear. It's how we tell stars from planets.
It's not something new if that's where you're going.

Yellow skies is one of the phenomena of hurricanes. I see it every time we have one.
Yellow skies and a very low ceiling.

If I hadn't run out of coffee I'd have missed it.

They were the same here between cloud cover.

Since there was a frost warning here this morning I just write it off as ice crystals in the sky.

Here this will interest you and others the scintillation of Sirius, first the camera is focused correctly then moved out of focus to show the colours caused by our atmoshere.
