When others might go to prison, powerful people go to rehab..

Why isn't this guy in jail ?!?

It sickens me to see how this is playing out. It's a slap in the face to the American public! This is how it goes for every single person without 'power'.

Someone goes to the station and addresses a complaint against another.
- Charges are pressed.
- Person charged goes to jail.
- Person charged goes up in front of the judge and determines if he/she may or may not be bonded out.
- Person goes to court and is judged guilty or innocent.
- Person goes free or pays for crime.

Instead, if you have millions, things go differently.
- Multiple victims come forward and claim sexual assault AND RAPE!
- Assaulter pays off some victims.
- Assaulter goes to seek help outside the country for "sex addiction".


WTF!! How was he even allowed to leave the country? How is he allowed to walk free while so many people are calling him out? Why are there no states/courts charging him?

Yes... He's innocent until proven guilty but he STILL has to go through the motions! You're charged! You're Jailed! You're Judged! You're freed or you pay the penalty! Especially in California where if you don't get consent, you're going up the river...

If this country falls apart, people take to the streets and burns this country to the ground one way or another... I'm sorry... It would be justified. Stuff like this pisses me off to no end, more so than any stupidity that we see everyday in this country. When someone who has such deep pockets and political favor get away with murder... raping... stealing from the people... nothing, not even a slap on the wrist. This is egg in our faces, people! This is a punch in the mouth! This is THEM down right telling you... "You're Poor... YOU DON'T MATTER"! Laws only exist for you and I. When you have millions, laws no longer apply to you.

If your average Joe rapes someone and says "I need to go to rehab because I have a sickness... Sex addiction... That should excuse me from penalty". Do you think the judge is going to say... "ok, buddy. We understand. You're sick. Go to the doc and get better. All is forgiven"? Not a snowballs chance in hell.

Why are we as a people not doing something about this? Why aren't we saying anything to our so called leaders? Why aren't we painting a picture for them?

Some people go to prison, and others go to rehab. Deposed Hollywood plutocrat Harvey Weinstein is reportedly going to rehab. On Tuesday, TMZ said Weinstein was en route to “a rehab center in Europe” to address “sex addiction.”

“We’re told Weinstein still believes he can get help, come back, and make a fresh start,” the site reported. “As a source close to Weinstein put it, ‘He wants to come back with fresh, new ideas.’”

After decades of both alleged and admitted patterns of abusive and coercive behavior, the 65-year-old Weinstein appears to be seeking a do-over. Though he hasn’t publicly confirmed it, he alluded to this last week in a postmodernist mea culpa, in which he misquoted Jay-Z and condemned the NRA and also conceded, “I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it. Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go.”

I mean seriously... WTF!

The Meadows (Where Weinstein is thought to have gone)...is a beautiful, posh, spa for wealthy musicians, film stars and Captains of Industry.
I've seen the place (went to family group sessions there for a relative seeking treatment for alcoholism)...those sessions were BullS#it.

We spent $75K-$100K for about about a month of 'treatment'....and it turned out to be worthless.

At this point no one has pressed charges. That could change however and it appears the Federal Government may get involved as allegedly his payoffs may have been filed as tax deductions which is illegal.

He got rehab and probation..

Look at the housing crash.. I think one guy went to jail...

In our system the rich and powerful never go to jail..

And all of the wealthy cover for each other. Whether in politics or entertainment. It allows them to keep getting fat off the general population.

I don’t think they have to cover for each other. The system is basically pay for play.. our legal system is and was likely always meant to be for profit..

All the prosecutors, judges and attorneys are on a first name basis and usually life long friends.

The rest of the rich and powerful would probably be stepping on toes if they were to interfere.

I went to court for traffic stuff and when my attorney went up front to the prosecutor, HE told the prosecutor what was going to happen, before asking him if he enjoyed last weekends bbq..


With smaller crimes, how much of a threat is a 250$ speeding ticket to Harvey Weinstein???


Hell he could allocate 5 times that for every trip he ever makes and drive 150mph..

Here is a good anecdote..

I had s high school friend who wrote a computer program that Microsoft bought 49% control of for like 5 million..

Well he brought a brand new Mercedes coupe and was making the trip from Vicksburg to jacksom, MS on the interstate and decided to test it out and got pulled over doing like 130...


Well he is scared to death as the cop approached the car, because he is pretty sure that’s arrestable and he is ABSOLUTELY not built for a weekend in county jail lol..

The cop walked up to the window. Says “slow down” and turned around . Then got back in his squad car and left..

Later our conclusion, because even my buddy was flabbergasted at what just happened. Was that the cop knew that anyone driving that car. Wouldn’t have even notice the speeding ticket.

In Canada, a few years ago, the daughter of a police chief did a hit and run while DUI. She eventually got caught. Her father and a few officers changed the reports, but they got caught a few months later.

In the end, the judge only slapped the police chief and the officers on the wrist for not doing their job, but understood "why" they did it as she was "family"... As for the daughter? The judge said she had paid enough as this whole affair was made public and no other punishment would be imposed...

As you said, rich, in position of power... No need to worry about the law.

Also, I wonder if Weinstein's victims aren't pressing charges because A) they fear for their lives(!) or B) because trying to tell a judge you got repeatedly sexually abused or raped because you wanted a contract would look foolish. There are, after all, other jobs, though not as glorious or "rewarding" as being a celebrity...

This is a mess, and no one looks good in this. I don't expect changes to anything until I see some people doing time. But I have no more faith in the justice system of the western world.

I got a ticket for speeding a few years ago... There was a Mercedez 10 feet in front of me, that I was following, and a Porsch 10 feet behind me, following me. I was in the middle with a Ford Escort...

When the cop pulled me over, I asked why he didn't also stopped the rich people who were speeding with me. He said he only caught ME on his radar. And the speeding I was doing? Everybody was always going at that speed there. He needed to fill his quotas, that's all, as it was 1 AM, and there were no other drivers...
I told him he caught me because I was the one less likely to be able to have the ticket cancelled. He said he was only doing his job...

I agree with the O.P., I was just thinking this myself. People who are rich can do pretty much anything and go to rehab like this guy, especially when it comes to sexual assault. On the other hand, Weinstein could be seeking therapy in Europe to avoid being arrested in the states if charges were pressed.

Seriously though, if Weinstein were some working-class man, he wouldn't have been able to trade his power for sex as easily, and even if he did find some way to sexually harass women (which is entirely possible) it is far more likely he would end up in prison...

Then again, stuff like this has a tendency to go unreported all the time.

Should be publically executed at hugh noon.

Yea , it also might have to do with potential repercussions , especially if the incident escalated..

You in your escort were WAY less likely to be the son of a cop , judge or politician..

So if things escalated and the officer used force. There is little chance he would face any repercussions from you.

This was never a black only issue. This is an issue that effects everyone. It just effects black people more..

Money rules, anyone that tells you otherwise is either willfully ignorant or a lying scumbag.

Is everyone familiar with the term relative suffering? It's a term used to describe the concept that people have a hard time seeing their suffering in relation to others. An example would be a boy in a third world country who hasn't eaten in three days, and a middle class child who's parents won't get them the video game they wanted. Objectively speaking, both of those children think that they're experiencing the worst thing that's ever happened to them, but subjectively one is suffering far more than the other.

Our justice system seems to have a problem with over-consideration of the rich when it comes to relative suffering. That's pretty much what happens with millionaires that commit crimes oftentimes. Sure, you embezzled millions of dollars from the company retirement fund, but you got fired from your cushy job and had to give some of the money back, so surely that's restitution enough right? That, by far, is the worst thing that's happened to you in YEARS! So we'll give you some probation and you can retire to your house in the bahamas.

Same thing for Weinstein, i'm sure he's mad as hell that he has to go to to rehab. I'm sure he's livid that people expect him not to swing his power and influence around to get what he wants from women, that's how he gets what he wants from everyone.

this is a big problem, especially in dynastic families that have whole branches that have been rich since birth. They, almost literally, live in a different world than all of us.

To be fair, relative suffering does sometimes hit the rich worse than the poor. A poor person who loses everything he has is going to lose far less than a rich person who loses everything, hence why there are so many examples of bankers, executives, and stock traders committing suicide when they lose their jobs or funds.
