BladeRunner 2049

Last night the wife and I watched "Blade Runner 2049". We watched it at an AMC with their new(ish) Dolby cinema.

The movie itself was absolutely phenomenal. I was enthralled from start to finish. It was, in my opinion, a perfect addition to the original Ridley Scott performance with great casting, beautiful effects and seamless cinematography. The story line is moderately complex and befitting to its predecessor.

The theatre we watched in had what's called Dolby Cinema. It was my first time experienceing it and I absolutely loved it. The vibrating leather recliners that activate with the sound and visual effects of the movie, combined with the superior sound system in the theatre really did put me in the movie in a way that I'd never experienced before. It wasn't obnoxioiusly loud, but there were some very loud moments in the movie.

From a sci-fi perspective, I love the concept. A wonderful setting of what earth and humanity may very well look like one day.

If you're looking for a great sci-fi flick...go check out Blade Runner 2049...you won't be disappointed. And if you are, blame Earl.

Good to know they did a good job.
So many rehashed movies drop the ball big time.

I was surprised that this one even got made.
It was not successful the first time around so the studio had to roll the dice on the cult following bringing in the audience.

It's a sequel not a rehash. It's set further in the future than the last one.

Glad to hear it , Blade Runner is my favourite film so it's good to know they've put some effort into the sequel and not gone for an easy cash grab.
Might have to go see it.

Do androids dream of electric sheep ?

Blade Runner is one of my all-time favorite movies! I even felt back then that the movie probably captured the despair of the future better than any movie which would follow. Up to that point (and, with a few exceptions, ever since) the future has been portrayed as this cool hi-tech world (yeah, with a few bad guys thrown in just for a plot line). Blade Runner took a different path. It was dark and dreary, full of totalitarian themes. It was ahead of it's time then, but is coming into better focus only now...the realities of the future not being all that.

If Blade Runner 2049 comes anywhere even close to capturing the feeling the original movie evoked it will be a smashing success. It's definitely on my list. I appreciate the review, I'm looking even more forward to it now.

It was incredible.

My girlfriend hadn't seen the first one and she loved it.

The score, the epic shots that Ridley is known for.... just bravo.

I figured it would be good, I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

You better not be over exaggerating or else I'm coming for you.

The director released 3 short films which are suppose to provide context leading up to Blade Runner 2049. Check it out.

These are great! I'm not even upset that I didn't watch these before I saw the movie. It's a nice little post watching bonus that gives more insight into the movie.

At 2 hours and 44 minutes, it was pretty lengthy...so bonus material like this to watch before or after it is a perfect fit.

Nope....disclaimer is already out there. If you don't like it, you look for a guy named Earl. He's the one to blame. Not I...

I also gotta say, Jared Leto's character didn't have a lot of screen time; but his acting and his characters impact gives this franchise a legitimate opportunity to spin off a couple of quality follow-ups. Maybe we can get an off-world movies.

I enjoyed it, want to go see it again. You really need to see this on a big screen. Some of the scenes are just unbelievable, total immersion, you forget you are watching a movie from time to time. Some of it was kind of tedious, a few stereotypical characters. But a good movie and one you will have to watch multiple times before you really see it all. Cant believe Harrison Ford is still doing fight scenes at his age. He is an avid cyclist, I just started cycling this year and now I understand why he is in such good shape.

I saw it yesterday and I have to agree with what most people have said. Great movie but you can't really compare it to the original. The story line is much more complex and while there are some references to the original it's more of a standalone film. The cinematography is beautiful and they did a great job recreating the world of the original film.

I also liked how they left it open for another sequel should they decide to go that route.
