The guy was in shadow government and this was a psy op. He had money rolling in and kept his social and family contacts to a minimum constantly travelling. Now he played video poker. He had a math background and worked for the IRS back in the 80s as well as the postal service. If this was recent you'd think he was in on identity theft. But what if he had access to technology that let him cheat the machines? Or maybe he just did work that gave him large amounts of cash and he had to have a way to explain how he got it, by gambling. You don't have a falling out with your girl friend and then send her 100K hoping she'll come back. He gave her that money to either keep quiet or to help support her once he was gone. He was a pilot and had two small planes. Drug or human trafficking?
I really like the theory that Paddock was a gun runner, and this was a deal gone bad. It would explain what the weapons were doing there, and why he wired $100,000 to his girlfriend in the Phillipeans. The gambling was just a cover to explain where the money comes from. He doesn't fit the profile of a mass-murderer because he wasn't a mass murderer. But he does fit the profile of someone who earns a lot of money from suspicious sources.

The press conference brought out that an explosive chemical (I think they said ammonium nitrate?) was found in the car. The car was not his. I believe they are saying that it, too, belonged to Marilou Danley.
Her bank card was also found in the room. I also heard that the hotel room was in her name. I can't locate links to verify this, however.
At the presser, they said they were still investigating this woman.
ISIS doubled down on their claim of responsibility.
Somebody said that the woman has two grown sons named Ali and Zafir. Are those muslim names? Anybody know?
I am really wondering why he had so many weapons with him, you only need a couple if you are solo... not 20!
Why lug 20 damned firearms when you are only going to use 2-3 tops?
Almost sounds like he was supplying a whole squad.

"fits no known profile"
- was on anti-depressants
- close contact with Muslim people/group
- attended leftist political rallies
Dang it, we just don't know what could have done it!

He allegedly won $5,000,000 playing video poker. That suggests he was working for the people who run the casino: the "Mob." He couldn't quit his job and live, so he decided to screw his employers by taking a whack at Vegas's tourist industry. Best fit theory yet.

Law enforcement are also examining Paddock's finances. IRS records show that Paddock was a successful gambler, earning at least $5 million in 2015. Some of that could be from other investments, but most of it was from gambling, officials say.

However, there will always be exceptions to any profile.

Now this has got to be the most absurd thing yet:

Sorry, but people don't 'earn' their money gambling. They lose it, is what they do. And the more you gamble(and Paddock gambled a lot), the more certain it is you will be a net loser. Like in the range of 99.9% certain.
They only one that makes money in a casino is the casino. And maybe a few professional poker tournament people. And the rare bird that gets lucky and then walks out of the casino, never to gamble again. But that's it.
