I am not sure who was behind this suppression, but some sources say Obama's administration was in favor of not using social media to vet visas.

Or... The authoritarians in our country are winning & they simply use terrorism & immigration as pretexts to implement a police state.

Put it like this, let's pretend that all immigrants left America and all terrorists turned themselves in. Would our govt stop using these types of programs? I think they'd just change the justification and point to another bogeyman that they need to "protect" us from with these programs.

You are correct sir. As I have stated many times, assume every keystroke is logged and will be used against you in a court of law.

I would surely agree except that terrorism hasn't won. What's being defined as terrorism is growing. Definitions broadened.
